Thoughts on the name Valiant with the Nickname Val?

Recently came across the name [name_u]Valiant[/name_u] and would love to hear your thoughts, let me know.

I really like [name_u]Val[/name_u], and [name_u]Valiant[/name_u] is cool! I do think it might sound like a descriptor, though, when paired with a middle name, for example [name_u]Valiant[/name_u] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] sounds like you are talking about a brave girl called [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. Otherwise, it’s cool!

Too wordy for me. I think of “a valiant effort”

I think it’s a cool name for a character. It seems a bit “outlandish” for my taste, but still neat!

Edit: oh, I’m stupid. Thought I was in the Writer’s Corner. If it is for a real person, I would have to say pass. Others on the thread made some good points, and I have to agree with @reginaveveritelor. While it could make for a fun name in fiction, in my opinion, it seems a bit awkward irl.

I think word names are a little tacky, and having an adjective as a name is even worse. Most people would probably agree that naming a child a virtue or compliment is never a good idea - names like [name_u]True[/name_u], [name_u]Unique[/name_u], [name_f]Charity[/name_f], [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], and [name_f]Patience[/name_f] come to mind. They’re just strange.
When [name_u]Valiant[/name_u] introduces herself with “I’m [name_u]Valiant[/name_u],” people are going to be confused, because they’ll think she’s describing herself rather than saying her name.

I really like the idea of it!

I actually like the idea of using [name_u]Valiant[/name_u] as a name, however, I do think it’d be best in the middle spot to avoid awkwardness.

Valiant is bold and cool!
