I’ve known boys with the name [name]Perry[/name]. (As I am southern and [name]Perry[/name] is my last name, this isn’t a huge surprise.) Therefore, I think it is perfectly okay to use the name [name]Perry[/name] on a boy.
Hmm, I am a bit on the fence about [name]Perry[/name]. I think it could be very handsome and even rugged when paired with the right kind of personality. I am also reminded of [name]Perry[/name] from Scrubs (the doctor who always calls JD feminine names) – he’s a bit of a nasty character sometimes, so that might not be a positive association. On the opposite end of the spectrum, [name]Perry[/name] seems kind of effeminate and its quite closely related to some of the boys names that are trendily given to girls ([name]Elliot[/name], [name]Chance[/name], etc.). But, if you don’t have a problem with softer boys names, then [name]Perry[/name] might be perfect for you! It could be lovely paired with a middle that has a different vibe:
[name]Perry[/name] [name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Perry[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Perry[/name] [name]Hawthorne[/name]
[name]Perry[/name] [name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Perry[/name] [name]Spencer[/name]
I like it! It feels a little incomplete for me though, personally I would use it as a nn for [name]Perrin[/name]/[name]Peran[/name], [name]Peregrine[/name], [name]Perez[/name], etc. but I would absolutely love to meet a little boy [name]Perry[/name].
I don’t think of [name]Perry[/name] as a girl’s name. I never thought it sounded less than strong, either - maybe because I associate it with other names of its time that are more abrupt or consonant-heavy.
Thank you everyone, for your replies. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s handsome. I would definately pair it with a more rugged middle like [name]Hawthorne[/name]. Does anyone have any other similar suggestions for a middle? Thank you!
I have only ever thought of [name]Perry[/name] as a boy’s name. I always knew it to be derived from the Welsh meaning “son of [name]Harry[/name].” For example in Welsh this would be _____, ap (meaning son of) [name]Harry[/name], and this blended into the name [name]Perry[/name] when you say it fast. I like it.
