What do you think of the look/sound of Ellie as a nickname for a longer El name?
I think it makes total sense and is a very intuitive and likely nickname for almost any [name_f]El[/name_f] name.
Personally, I find [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] a bit boring and overdone but it is sweet and straightforward to wear.
I love the name [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and have seen it as a nickname for [name_f]Ellinor[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] as well as a stand-alone name. So I think it works as a nickname for a variety of names.
I think it’s sweet and bright and works for any [name_f]El[/name_f]- name. I do think it’s more popular than it seems since so many names can have [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nickname, so it’s likely an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] might have to be “Ellie last initial”. But I do like the sweet, friendly feeling it has.
It makes perfect sense, and I like the sound. However I personally have a negative connotation from an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] that I knew (full name Eloise) so I wouldn’t give a child of mine a full name with the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
It feels pretty versatile and accesible
ellie definitely makes sense as a nickname for any [name_f]El[/name_f] name and is super intuitive.
ellie is sweet but like @katinka said i also find it a little boring and overdone. there were at least 9 ellies in my year alone at school, some were just ellie and some were eleanors that went mostly by ellie but it just doesn’t sound fresh to me because of this.
it’s a very intuitive nickname, as well as being cute and making sense. However, I agree with @katinka that it seems a bit boring, especially because it’s a common full name as well as just a nickname, so I prefer [name_f]Elle[/name_f] for myself. But it has an adorable feel and gives very bright, sunny vibes!
