I hope my critiques are more helpful than hurtful. [name_f]Remember[/name_f], these are just my opinions, and you can make your name list however you like!

Ruthanna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] – not a fan of Ruthanna (or “smoosh” names in general. They always end up sounding made up imo, and are never greater than the sum of their parts.) [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] or [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would be darling!

[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] – I do like [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] better than Ruthanna. Because of the movie (which I think is based off a book?) it seems less made up. [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] is cutesy, but it works

[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] – it’s nice. I usually don’t like Z names, but [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] has always been my favorite of the bunch! [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] feels like a different style, but I still think they work ok together.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] – I really like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! So much vintage charm, and I love the spunky, more modern [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as a nickname! [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is just ok imo. The 3-3 syllable count is not my preference, but I know other people aren’t bothered by that.

[name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] – I like the flow. The combo works well. I personally don’t love [name_f]Iona[/name_f] (the “eye” sound isn’t one of my favorites). Objectively, this is a good name

[name_u]Revel[/name_u] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] – [name_u]Revel[/name_u] is a bit weird to me if I’m being honest. I know that it isn’t a word with negative connotations, but I can’t help but think of a villain “reveling in destruction” or something. I do like that you’ve paired it with a more traditional name to balance it out.

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] – I like this! Ginerva feels more dark and serious (in a good way), which balances nicely with the fun, bouncy [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]! Overall, this name definitely feels whimsical and mysterious.

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] – [name_u]Ever[/name_u] just doesn’t sound or look like a name to me, and [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]Maleficent[/name_f].

Tysm for your opinions! And yeah I go back n forth if I like Ruthanna or just like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and just want be less common. I appreciate the input!

[name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is my favorite of these combos. I love [name_f]Iona[/name_f]! (As long as your last name is not a common noun, then it sounds like you’re saying "I own a ___ ")

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] is a good combo. I really like those two names together.

I think [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] would be a hard first name to have in real life - usually when a real person is called a “Pollyanna”, it’s not a compliment. But if you’re not considering these for a real baby - then I like [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f], it’s cute.

Ruthanna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] “Ruthie” - Incredibly charming and darling, I quite like this name! Ruthanna is so sweet and buttoned up, and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] adds a bit of spunkiness! I would personally switch Ruthanna out in favor of [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], or even [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], but I think this is a solid combination and I have no qualms with it as it is! :slightly_smiling_face:

[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] “Polly” - I got butterflies reading this one! I adore everything about it, and while it may seem overly cutesy at first glance, I think that this is also a solid combination, anchored by the connection to the book and film. [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] is such a fun, unexpected middle, and that’s what the middle name place is for, anyways! Fantastic combination, and my personal favorite on your list!

[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] “Zinny” - I believe that [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] balances out the quirkiness of [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] perfectly, and I love the adorable nickname “Zinny!” Absolute perfection, no further notes.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] “Romy” - What a magnificent and elegant combination! [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] complement one another splendidly. It sounds like the name of a princess, I love it so.

[name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] - Ooh, this one sounds like the name of a faerie princess, I am quite enamored with it! I wish I could steal it from you, haha! :slightly_smiling_face: It’s very soft-yet-strong, but not in a bad way, and [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is such a standout name! [name_u]Wonderful[/name_u] combination all-around.

[name_u]Revel[/name_u] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] “Revi” - I really do enjoy the juxtaposition of Revel’s sweetness and Theodora’s grandeur together! I’ll admit that I am not a fan of the nickname “Revi,” but [name_u]Revel[/name_u] is such an inspired and whimsical choice, and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] grounds it a bit. I like it, but not as much as the aforementioned names.

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] “Ginny” - Another name that just screams elegance and feels very royal, I have few words to say, but know that my feelings towards this name are all positive! You could say I’m rendered nearly speechless by how lovely it is!

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] - The only combination of yours that I feel is lacking something. It’s not bad, per se, but it isn’t pleasing to me stylistically, and I don’t find [name_u]Ever[/name_u] to be a very attractive name in the first spot. Have you perhaps considered [name_f]Everild[/name_f] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], or [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] [name_u]Ever[/name_u]? Maybe even Everilda [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] a few ideas. :slightly_smiling_face:

I hope my chaotic thoughts and suggestions will be of some help to you! Have a terrific day/evening! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: You have wonderous names, truly!

Ruthanna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] sounds like an extra on [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u] (that didn’t make it into any scenes).
[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] sounds like a gardener who is trying too hard
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] sounds like the daughter of the gardener who tries too hard
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] Fiona’s mother is [name_f]British[/name_f] and her father is [name_u]Irish[/name_u] and they just smashed together to names they liked.
[name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is great
[name_u]Revel[/name_u] Theodora’s parents misspelled [name_u]Rebel[/name_u].
Ginerva [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is the daughter of a [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] nerd married to a Greek scholar.
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] has too much of a thing for weirdly modern names tacked onto long, outdated medieval middles. Who is her brother, [name_f]Braydyn[/name_f] [name_m]Pendragon[/name_m]?

You said ruthless :woman_shrugging:

Ruthanna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] ‘Ruthie’ → strong but sharp, but with a hint of sweetness too - I like how it sounds sturdy but has a sweet, gentler meaning

[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] ‘Polly’ → this is pretty cutesy and sweet, but with a free-spirited feel

[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] ‘Zinny’ → sharp, floral and stylish

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] ‘Romy’ → [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] ‘Romy’ is great, but [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] doesn’t quite flow and feels a bit heavy hear to me. Based on yours, I’d consider [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Theda[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Freda[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Vita[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]?

[name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] → gorgeous - love it - bright, magical and mystical

[name_u]Revel[/name_u] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] ‘Revi’ → this is fun and cool - love the sassy [name_u]Revel[/name_u]

Ginerva [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] ‘Ginny’ → so sparky and distinctive - I like it

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] → balanced and interesting, I quite like it

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Here are my thoughts-

Ruthanna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] ‘Ruthie’-I adore the idea of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]. It’s so [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u], & I love that! [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is also well known, strong, vintage & obviously feminine. [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] is lovable & innocent. However…I don’t think that I like Ruthanna. It sounds too smoosh for my tastes. I think two middle names [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would be perfectly nice.

[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] ‘Polly’-I don’t know. This feels more of a real name than Ruthanna, but it’s just too sweet. I like [name_f]Polly[/name_f] a lot! It’s fine on its own or as a nn for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. How cute would [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f] be?

[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] ‘Zinny’-I love the vibe of this, the flow of the two names & the style of them paired together. I’m not personally big on the sound of either name, but like them both in theory if that makes sense. Zinny is kind of fun.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] ‘Romy’-Aw, [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. I love it! This combo flows nicely & is unexpected. I like the idea of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] even though I’m not big on either name. I like just [name_u]Rose[/name_u] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] best. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

[name_f]Iona[/name_f] Faye-See [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]. I like the combo & both names are fine in theory; just not my cup of tea. [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is different though.

[name_u]Revel[/name_u] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] ‘Revi’-Theodora is gorgeous. [name_u]Revel[/name_u] doesn’t quite feel like a name or a pretty word to me.

Ginerva [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] ‘Ginny’-I don’t like the ‘nerv’ sound in Ginerva, but love the vibe of this combo. Very cool & interesting. [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is adorable.

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] Millicent-Hm. [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] is cool, & this flows well. I don’t think that I’m used to [name_u]Ever[/name_u] as a name yet.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_u]Teddy[/name_u], I’ve been meaning to respond to this and seeing your “Top Ten of 2023” post reminded me that I hadn’t yet, so here I am!

I am absolutely in love with your names. I never, ever see anyone else talk about or even like Ruthanna and [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f]. I actually had [name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] on my list in 2018/2019/2020.

Ruthanna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is such a gem. I find that both of these names are hard to pair, but together they’re ever so lovely. Ruthanna is very weighty and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] brings such a fun, lighter, brighter feel to the combo. It’s also just such a beautiful name to say aloud, very lilting and lyrical.

[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] I adore, of course. It’s just so sweet and energetic, like an [name_u]Anne[/name_u] [name_u]Shirley[/name_u] or [name_f]Pippi[/name_f] Longstocking kind of name.

[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] is very cool and zippy. I absolutely love [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]. [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] isn’t a particular favorite of mine, perhaps because it reminds me of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] Wormwood’s neglectful mom from the [name_m]Dahl[/name_m] novel.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is just divine! [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is so underrated on Nameberry and in real life. I vividly remember meeting a girl called [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] one summer when I was very young, and thinking how incredibly beautiful that name was. I think it has so much more substance than the image of an animated ogre. And [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], oh, what an absolutely lovely name. It’s the perfect balance of whimsical and serious, playful and wise.

[name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is one that I really, really want to love, but it’s just not for me. I’ve always been down to [name_f]Iona[/name_f], [name_f]Ione[/name_f], [name_f]Winona[/name_f], etc., but for whatever reason, they just don’t click with me. I’d be thrilled to meet one, though! And [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is so charming. It feels like a fresher take on [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], and their ilk.

[name_u]Revel[/name_u] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is such an impeccable name, I can’t even begin to describe how perfect she is. I used to have [name_u]Revel[/name_u] on my list for a boy, but I realized that it sounds just like “Rebel,” which is cool on [name_u]Rebel[/name_u] [name_u]Wilson[/name_u], but not my favorite word for a baby name. However, I love, love, love this combo! I love the idea of reveling in the gift from [name_m]God[/name_m] that a sweet baby daughter would be.

Ginerva [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is so fun. It isn’t my favorite of the bunch because I personally find both of those names a little difficult to say, but I adore the storied history of both of these names, as well as the literary connections that they both have.

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] is just plan awesome! She sounds like a fairytale character, like a princess who slays dragons and outsmarts witches and does it all in a gorgeous dress. I love the softness that [name_u]Ever[/name_u] brings to [name_f]Millicent[/name_f].

Your names are absolutely brilliant. I feel so honored to have been able to see and talk about them. I think we have a kind of similar style, which is really fun.
