[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Here is my favorite to least favorite:
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (Bea)-Beatrice just has it all. It’s vintage, well known, not over done, feminine, not frilly, smart, sweet, lovable & has great nns. I like [name_f]Bess[/name_f] & [name_f]Bette[/name_f], but [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is the most obvious & darling as well.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] (Gwen)-Ooh yay, you spelled it my favorite way! [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is more common, but it’s not a very popular name anyway, so I think that this spelling shouldn’t be too confusing. I just think that it looks so much more elegant w/the ‘e’ rather than the ‘y’. [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] is strong & feminine & interesting but well known. [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is nice. I like [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] even more.
[name_f]Eudora[/name_f] (Dora)-Eudora is another one of those strong yet feminine, classic yet slightly exotic, not too complicated yet not popular names. All of the good qualities! I think that it may be a little tricky to say & spell, but not a huge deal. [name_f]Dora[/name_f] is cute as a nn. I’ve thought of [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] too.
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (Zanna/Sanna)-I think that [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is lovely. It’s sweet & kind of bookish. It has a vintage vibe, but seems fresh too. I don’t like [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] that much…Susannah has so many nns! I like [name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] (Winnie)-I like [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] in theory because it’s interesting & old fashioned. But I think that it sounds a bit clunky. [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] (Minty)-It’s not really a name that’s on my radar, & it feels a little bit heavy. But it’s really unique & kind of fun. I like the nn [name_u]Ara[/name_u] more than [name_f]Minty[/name_f]. [name_f]Minty[/name_f] would be a cool name for a horse…I think I may have had a [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] horse named this when I was a kid.
Blythe-I think it’s a little hard to say, but that may just be my issue. I love the happy feeling it gives off. And it’s short & sweet.
Maude-I like it in theory, but think it sounds a bit bland. It’s still a fun choice. And I like the nn [name_f]Maudie[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you? It may be somewhat unavoidable.
Sybil-It doesn’t do much for me, but it’s not awful. I understand the appeal. I just don’t like the sound that much.
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] (Romy/Roz)-Rosamond nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is creative. I’m guessing you’re saying ‘Roz-uh-mond’? I prefer the ‘Rose’ pronunciation, but I guess that [name_f]Roz[/name_f] is more common. [name_f]Roz[/name_f] sounds like a cranky old lady to me.
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] (Beau)-I like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] a lot. Which this might get mistaken for sometimes. I don’t care for [name_u]Beau[/name_u] though. It means boy, so it’s a little odd. I like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] & Ibbi as nns.
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] (Cressie)-It’s different, but not my cup of tea. I don’t like the sound of it.
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] (Jorie)-Different, but just dated & kind of clunky.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
