I’ve really been loving some family names in my recent peeks at Ancestry.co.uk records (my maternal grandparents came over from [name_f]England[/name_f] in 1964, 3 years before my mum came along, so the UK site has more indepth history for my mum’s side). Some are based off them, others are names I felt worked well with the family names.
Which of these combinations do you love the most? The FNs all stay the same, but feel free to swap the middles around. the only one that stays the same is [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but the 2nd middle is free to change.
Also, would you rather see [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] in the FN spot? I’m really loving everything that [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] symbolizes, but I’m unsure on middle names and it’s wearability in the front spot.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is pretty! But might I suggest [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]? [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]? [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]?
I most definitely like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] in the first spot! [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], I think, should remain in the middle. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]? [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]?
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is NMS, but it fits well here! A good separator for [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].
Again, [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is NMS and neither is [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but this name is very pretty!
[name_m]How[/name_m] are you pronouncing [name_f]Vera[/name_f]: Vee-ruh or Vair-uh? I prefer the latter, but that one also sounds too matchy with [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] most days, but I think [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] fits better.
[name_f]My[/name_f] least favorite from your list.
I pronounce [name_f]Vera[/name_f] as [name_m]VEER[/name_m]-ah. Thank you! I want to keep [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] as a FN choice, haha. I like [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f], thank you
I was going to choose my top 3 but could not narrow it down to three, so went with my top 4 (in order).
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (I also love [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], that would move to my top choice)
I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is gorgeous also. Not sure if I prefer [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (I prefer this spelling) or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
I’m not a fan of the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] spelling - a’s before e’s bother me haha. I really love [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] have a lot of family meaning (my mother almost chose [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for my sister to honour her grandparents), and [name_f]May[/name_f] has connections to both of my late grandfathers (both born in [name_f]May[/name_f]). I’m torn haha.
I’m also considering adding Vera Isobel Catherine. I love Isabelle/Isobel Catherine a lot, but I don’t see myself having a little Isabelle.
I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] in the front spot most I think, because I find it so boring in the middle. I’m so tired of seeing [name_f]Iris[/name_f] in the middle too, but less so because it’s getting popular in the UK. I love them both immensely but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] feels a bit overdone to me now.
I know of a little [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] which I think is just gorgeous. Something like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
Ooh, I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]/[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Clarine[/name_f]. Haha, now I’m just making this list even more difficult for me to choose a favourite from.
Haha - I’ve just spotted [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] in your signature; why isn’t that on the list?! It’s beautiful. I’ve always loved [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a combo for some reason.
Due to its single syllable, go with anything appeal, its inevitable that [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] will appear more as a middle name than a first. It seems a shame though. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is beautiful, recognisable, understated and sweet. Those are all great qualities in a fn if you ask me!
You have great naming style, [name_u]Haley[/name_u]! I seriously love all of your posts.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are definitely [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] – Overall, it’s lovely but I just can’t get into [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (even though I know it’s totally my style).
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] – [name_m]Just[/name_m] not a fan of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. It feels so boring compared to the other names on your list.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] – For [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], see [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I can tolerate it more as a middle name though.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] – Definitely not feeling [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] – [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] but I’m not a big fan of either combo. [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], perhaps?
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] – This is my third favorite, behind the two I mentioned above.
I’d rather see [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as a first name than [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is pretty in theory but I just don’t like the sound of it when I say it.
I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is my favourite too, it’s a very special name for my mother, nana and I.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] was my great grandmother (my mum’s maternal grandmother), and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] comes from my great grandfather (my mum’s maternal grandfather), [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. They passed away when I was 18 months old, and my mother was incredibly close with them. When my sister was born nearly 2 years later, she considered [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and then [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for her, but neither really fit. She said she felt that she couldn’t use [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] since her grandmother hated it and used her middle name, but she always loved it. She was actually over the moon the first time I said I liked [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] best friend (she’s sort of my like, stand in naming partner until I actually do have children) suggested [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with it, and I instantly chose it, without even realising why I liked it. I mentioned it yesterday to my mum, and she was so happy at the thought of it on a granddaughter, haha. [name_f]May[/name_f] has connections to my late grandfathers, (both were born in [name_f]May[/name_f]), so it just sort of came together from there.
The only other name with a family connection like that for me is [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. [name_f]Vera[/name_f] was my great grandmother’s preferred name, and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] shares a meaning with my mother’s name, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I’m just concerned that I won’t love anything else as much as I do [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], haha.
