My 1 year old daughter’s name is [name]Madeline[/name] ([name]Maddie[/name]), and we are looking for a name for her new little brother! Our last name is very common ([name]Brown[/name]) so we are looking for something a bit different.
What do you think of…
[name]Love[/name] [name]George[/name] and [name]Henry[/name]. My daughter’s name is [name]Maggie[/name] and we are choosing between these two right now for baby boy due in [name]Jan[/name].
I love [name]Hugh[/name]. Any idea on a mn yet? I suggest something with more than one syllable since [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Brown[/name] sounds a little short. Also, if you want to expand the syllables on the fn, you could try [name]Hugo[/name] instead.
As for [name]Henry[/name], [name]George[/name], and [name]Maxwell[/name], I think they’re the kind of common name you don’t want.
I like [name]Hugh[/name] a lot too. Depending on what part of the country you live in, [name]Henry[/name] is pretty popular right now, and I personally know at least one [name]Henry[/name] [name]Brown[/name].
Any one of these names would have done very well for a 19th century law firm partner, so in that same vein, I’m going to suggest
[name]Hugh[/name] is a great name…[name]Hugh[/name] with a color last name makes me think of hue a bit though. I mean there’s nothing unfortunate about that, but it seems faintly play-on-word-y with your surname. I don’t know that people will really pick up on that often though. It is a little choppy, but I think 1-1 names can work. Is [name]Hugo[/name] an option? [name]Hugo[/name] nn [name]Hugh[/name]?
I really like your maiden name as a middle! I would totally want to call him [name]Bram[/name] (not because I dislike any of your first names, but [name]Bram[/name] is just so cool and it’s great that it’s in your maiden!).
[name]Whitaker[/name] is really cool and I love the rhythm of [name]Whitaker[/name] Bramhall [name]Brown[/name]. The first two names are a little lawfirmy together though?
[name]Hugh[/name] is a lovely name, but I don’t think it pairs very well with [name]Brown[/name]. [name]Hugo[/name] was a good suggestion. Out of your options, I’d pick [name]Maxwell[/name]. [name]Max[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name] are cute together. But it kind of puts you in an M pattern for naming. Not that a third would have to be an M name, but just something to think about.
Yeah, [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Brown[/name] is great at all.
[name]Madeline[/name] & [name]Maxwell[/name] are gorgeous together, and I love the idea of [name]Maddie[/name] and [name]Max[/name] but you would be setting yourself up for an ‘M’ theme if you were to have more children.
[name]Madeline[/name] & [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Madeline[/name] & [name]George[/name] are both gorgeous too.
If [name]Hugh[/name] was [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Brown[/name] that would be my first choice (Hue [name]Brown[/name] just isn’t ideal). While I like your other names, I think [name]Whittaker[/name] nn [name]Witt[/name] would be the most interesting and unusual choice with your very common surname.
I love all of the names but I think my favourite is [name]Whitaker[/name], such a cool, unusual, stunning name! I think [name]Madeline[/name] and [name]Whitaker[/name] would make a great sibset! Congratulations on your little boy!
I honestly didn’t even think of the “hue brown” thing myself until I read it, and do not think its an issue. Mind you I have the ln [name]Moore[/name] and a dd with a color name so backwards I suppose it may sound like you are conveying a change in an art project, but only for those of us who really pour over names and decide if it sounds a certain way or not. ( I know a woman, no joke, whose name before marriage was [name]Kate[/name] Forney. [name]Kate[/name] being her full given name, THAT sort of backwards sounding out is something that should be avoided imho! )
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Brown[/name] is my favorite, honestly, but I like more than 1 syllable with a 1 syllable last name. [name]Henry[/name] could be [name]Hank[/name] of course if you saw it fit. Not the most unusual combination of first and last names in general, but depending on where you live you will be more likely to find [name]Henry[/name] [name]Brown[/name] to be the retired gentleman down the street then graduating preschool…which is a good thing!
Oh wow, I love [name]Whitaker[/name]!!! I’d be tempted to add it to my own list if my daughters name didn’t end in -er. I like that’s that’s three syllables like your daughters name and easy to get to a nn yet uncommon enough to where you won’t have a problem with your last name.
[name]Hugh[/name] brown? I’m not a huge fan of two one syllable names together. I maxwell would be cute, but you run into the same problem if people call him max.
I’m a fan of [name]Whitaker[/name], nn [name]Whit[/name]. I think it pairs well with [name]Madeline[/name] nn [name]Maddie[/name]! Classic/traditional first name with a spunky nn.
