Our baby boy is due to join his big sisters in under two months now, and my husband and I have finally managed to make ourselves a short list, with the help of you berries when I posted two weeks ago.
This is our list; [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. He’ll have the middle name [name_u]Lorne[/name_u].
The thing is, we have issues with almost every name on our list; I’m worried people will associate the name [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] with the horrible character on Game of Thrones, we think [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], which we would almost certainly use for [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], sounds too similar to our eldest daughter’s name, [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and that [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] might all be too ‘n’ heavy with the middle name [name_u]Lorne[/name_u].
My husband thinks I’m worrying too much about [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], but I’m not convinced.
What do you think of [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] with the middle name [name_u]Lorne[/name_u]? And how do they sound with our daughter’s names, [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandrine[/name_f] and [name_f]Idony[/name_f] [name_f]Norma[/name_f]. Our surname is my username.
[name_f]May[/name_f] I say what a lovely surname you have?! I have a slight obsession with discovering surnames I would love to have, and I think yours just made my mental list!
Aaanyway…
I think [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is an incredibly handsome name, but I’d personally find the sounds a little too similar to use with a sister called [name_f]Freya[/name_f].
I think [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] is absolutely fine to use and sounds really good with both [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] and your surname, as well as sisters’ names.
I love [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], but the only one I think works reasonably well with [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] is [name_m]Bastian[/name_m]. [name_u]Florian[/name_u] [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] are not terrible, but there are a lot of “l” and “n” sounds in there, especially with your surname.
My favourites from your list are [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I’d narrow that down to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m], taking into account the middle name [name_u]Lorne[/name_u]. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] feels perhaps a little too popular with your daughters’ names, and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] runs into your surname a little with the repeated “s” sounds, so I’d narrow that down further to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]. I think either of those would be a wonderful choice and a really great fit!
You have a great list ! I wouldn’t worry too much about the GoT associations for [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] and I think [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m] would sound great with your daughters’ names. I adore [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] but the repetition of the first L with [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] as a middle might be a bit of a mouthful ([name_m]Lucian[/name_m] does sound amazing with your surname though, fit for a [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Hardy[/name_m] character!).
My favorite from your list would be [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] – it sounds stunning with the middle name and the surname, AND your daughters’ names!
I don’t have a problem with [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] at all and I think it sounds super handsome. [name_u]Florian[/name_u] [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] [name_u]Lorne[/name_u] do sound a bit off to me and I can see why you wouldn’t love have a [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and a [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] (even though I love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]!). I actually read all the GOT books and honestly can’t remember [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] from it so if he isn’t a huge main character in the shows I wouldn’t worry about it. [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] are my favorites from your list although I think [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] also go nicely with your daughters’ names. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
I love [name_u]Florian[/name_u] and it’s my fave with your last name. But I don’t love the repeated ‘lor’ with [name_u]Lorne[/name_u]. I probably would eliminate [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] with [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. And I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] stands out as way more popular. Maybe [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] too, tho I do like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] more with sibs.
I wouldn’t worry about character associations. If you love [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], don’t let it deter you. People have the same issue with [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], which i love and consider totally usable.
All things considered, I’d narrow it to [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]… And maybe [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], [name_u]Florian[/name_u]. Ok so I think I eliminated two. ha. Ummm hope it helped?
