Thoughts on these names - yay or nay?

Some of them are new to my list, some are old ones I chucked or replaced that I have come back to. Any input would be great! I am unsure on whether to toss them across to my list.

  • = were previously on my list

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]*
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]*
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] (fyi: I love [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams)
[name_u]Sloan/name_u
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]*
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]*
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]*
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]*
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]*
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]* (years ago mind!)
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/[name_u]Skyler[/name_u]
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]*

Which ones are a big no and which ones should I switch over? I have no personal ties to any of the names except [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] (I am NYC mad), [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is the beginning of my sister’s middle name (does this make it unusable?) and [name_u]Sloan[/name_u] (spelled this way) is more special to me than [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], but I prefer the latter spelling.

Any input would be grand! Thank you.

I would keep:

Cleo
Sunday
Cecily
Olympia
Kaia
Maggie
Eliza
Athena

Olympia is so intriguing. I can never decide if I think it’s too much or not, which is weird because it’s so similar to Olivia.

my personal favorites:

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - middle name only
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - my favorite, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] would make a great combo
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]

my least favorite:

[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]

I would keep [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (love!), [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] & [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]: Very sweet name that has a friendly, open feel to it. I really like it! It’s a GP name for me though, because people have told me it sounds like a cat or cow name :frowning:

[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]: It’s not unusable, but it sounds far too surname-y to be a first name, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]: I love it! It’s sounds a lot fresher than [name_u]June[/name_u] and I think a child these days could definitely pull it off. Something to watch out for, if it matters to you, is that this name seems to be on the rise.

[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]: Not a huge fan, but I could see it in the mn spot. In general, though, I’m not a huge fan of days-of-the-week names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my preference.

[name_u]Sloan/name_u: I never really liked it this name with either spelling, but I see it has meaning to you…so this one could definitely stay on the list.

[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]: See [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]…although a celebrity ([name_m]Keith[/name_m] [name_u]Urban[/name_u], I think?) used [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for his little girl, so it at least has some known usage. [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] is an absolutely adorable nickname, too!

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]:
I truly like them both, but slightly prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] because it seems to roll of the tongue a bit easier than [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f].
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]: It seems a bit too much for a girl to live up to, if that makes sense. I actually know one and she goes by “lympy” (limpy) and that’s just too off-putting for me to even think about liking it…but it does have some other, more usuable nicknames like [name_u]Ollie[/name_u].

[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]: I like it, but it does have a bit of a harsh sound.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]: It’s pretty and sounds very exotic-princessy to me. Bonuses are that it is easy to spell and say.
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]: I like it and actually like it on it’s own, too, instead of as a nn for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. Would you be using it as a nickname or as is?

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]: Very beautiful and sounds very historic/established, yet fresh and vibrant. I think it is a sweet nod to your sister and doesn’t make the name unusable at all!

[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]: This is too locally popular for me to like it, but it’s a perfectly acceptable place-name
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]: I prefer [name_f]Catalina[/name_f], even though it’s a type of salad dressing lol.
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]: it sounds upper-class, to me, but I just don’t think it pairs very well with many middles. I’d assume it was an initial rather than a name (for instance, instead of [name_f]Elle[/name_f] Somers, I’d think it was L. Somers).

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]:
I have this on my list as a middle  I do worry about the “[name_m]Romeo[/name_m]” jokes, but it is a beautiful name.
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/[name_u]Skyler[/name_u]: I like [name_u]Sky[/name_u], [name_u]Skye[/name_u], and [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]…all of the [name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/Skylers that I know are actually male! Not a deal-breaker, but is just a side-note.
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]: I’m a bit unsure of this. I don’t think I’ve heard of it before. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]-siah (like [name_m]Josiah[/name_m])? [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]-see-ah? [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]-sha? I like the look of it, though! Z names are hard to come by lol.
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: forgot [name_f]Athena[/name_f]! As with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], I think it is a bit too much to live up to.

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]- I’ve never been a huge fan of [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], but I think it’s exotic and underused. I can definitely picture it on a little girl, or an adult.

[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]- I agree with PP, it sounds a little surname-ish, however, I thinks it’s an adorable name!

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]- I love this name! I think it’s timeless and it’s such a great name for a little girl, teenager and adult

[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]- It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I love the sound of it, but I can’t picture it on a adult or teen. Maybe on a young girl.

[name_u]Sloan/name_u- I adore this name! It’s ageless and works with almost all middles!

[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]- not a big fan, but it might work well as a middle name.

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/ [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]- not a fan of either but they would make a would make great names for all ages.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]- I love this name! I just don’t love the nicknames. Also, it may only work depending on the personality

[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]- again I agree with PP, very harsh sounding.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f]- not a fan, but then again depends on personality.

[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]- I like it on its own, and as a nn for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]- ABSOLUTELY IN [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]! It’s ageless, timeless!

[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]- very popular where I live, I know 6 [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]'s, 2 on my street. However it’s a sweet name.

[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]- I like this name, but can’t really picture it on an adult/grandparent.

[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- I don’t care for [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. I feel the same way with [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], I don’t like the nn and I can see it on an ambitious young girl, but not a quiet girl.

[name_f]Elle[/name_f]- I like this name. It’s pretty and high-class-sounding.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]- this name is pretty! I’ve never met anyone named [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] before. I think it’s sophisticated without being to much.

[name_u]Skyler[/name_u]/[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]- I’ve only met a male skyler. I have met 2 [name_f]Skyla[/name_f]'s however. I love [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] on a girl as much as on a boy.

[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]- not exactly sure how to pronounce this, but i love Z names. They are very underused but I love the sound of them!

Good luck !!

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]*
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]*
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] (fyi: I love [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams)
[name_u]Sloan/name_u
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]*
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]*
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]*
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]*
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]*
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]* (years ago mind!)
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/[name_u]Skyler[/name_u]
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]*

My favorites from the list are [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Caterina[/name_f], and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] goes against my usual style but I’ve always liked it for some reason. [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] are very underused in my opinion.

Ones I’m not a big fan of:
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - I do like the [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams reference but I have a hard time picturing it on a real girl, though meeting an actual person with the name could easily change my mind
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - I think it’s okay written down, but when spoken out loud, which names are the majority of the time, it also makes me think of the homophone sundae
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] - I’m not too fond of place names in general, but I’ve lived in NYC so this name always feels a bit cheesy to me. I think more subtle nods to [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] are cooler, like [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] or [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] or even something like [name_f]Willow[/name_f]/[name_f]Willa[/name_f] for Williamsburg. Obviously that’s just me though, and overall it’s not a terrible name but I think the simpler [name_u]Brook[/name_u]/[name_u]Brooke[/name_u] is nicer.

The others names are fine, just not my personal style. I’m familiar with [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] because of the actress on Girls but I think it would cause a lot of pronunciation issues.

My favourites for you are [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_u]Skylar[/name_u], [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]!

Keep: [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Caterina[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (but consider [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and [name_u]Julianne[/name_u], as these seem more classic to me)

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]* …love it
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u] . Ok
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]* love - reminds me of [name_f]Juna[/name_f] and [name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] (fyi: I love [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams) not bad
[name_u]Sloan/name_u - ok
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - middle name maybe
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]* - too essie
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]* - bold and spunky - [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] is a cute nn
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] - favorite
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]* Pretty
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] … adorable
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]* … growing on me (love the long I sound)
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] …cute but so popular
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]* ok
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]* (years ago mind!) [name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] - It’s ok, I like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] better.
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] - love
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/[name_u]Skyler[/name_u] - Prefer spelling it [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]- or just [name_u]Skye[/name_u] or [name_f]Skyla[/name_f].

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]! Perfect combination of spunky and sweet.
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u] - I have a bad association, but pretty all the same
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - I really dislike [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] for some reason, much prefer [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] out of the weekday names, but [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is also pretty (the spelling might confuse little kids, it certainly confused me when I was younger)
[name_u]Sloan/name_u - It’s alright, but not my favorite.
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - This I love.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]* - I prefer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], but both are very pretty.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]* - NMS, but not bad.
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] - It’s quite pretty. I prefer [name_f]Kara[/name_f], but [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] isn’t a bad name at all.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]* - Very pretty!
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], even though I’m not a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] fan.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]* - Slightly prefer [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (gives more options for nicknames in the future). [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is lovely though.
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] - Not my favorite, but I like it.
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f]* - Prefer the [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] spelling, but I love both names. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] with a little more attitude.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]* - NMS, but quite nice
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as a nn or full name. Makes me think of [name_f]Elle[/name_f] Woods, who I loved.
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] - Gorgeous!
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]/[name_u]Skyler[/name_u] - Not my favorite name, no matter the spelling.
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]*

[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]
[name_u]Sloan/name_u

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]

These are my favorites from your list

[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] cute for nickname.
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u] sounds like a snotty, rich girl.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] I like for male middle.
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] I like for female middle.
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u] I only like for male.
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] is cool, so is [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], which I love.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is cool, [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] I can’t stand.
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] is so-so.
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is cute, but to me only a nn.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] I like, though only as a nn.
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] do not like.
[name_f]Caterina[/name_f] is nice and I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f].
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] no, [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is OK but over-used.
[name_u]Skyler[/name_u] on a male, [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] sounds like a calcium-fortified shake to me.

I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f].

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

Most of your list seems pretty inoffensive. The ones I can see maybe getting a raised eyebrow every so often are [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f], [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], and [name_f]Zosia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] Addams too, so I’m all in favour of this name, but I imagine the snap snap jokes will get old pretty quickly.

[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] is less conspicuous, but still pretty unusual. I do like the potential nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] though.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is a little grandiose, and I can’t find whether or not it’s more common in the UK (I live in the US, so it would be all but unheard of here). It’s still a gorgeous name though. It always makes me think of the painting [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] by [name_f]Manet[/name_f].

[name_f]Zosia[/name_f] is unusual, but the pronunciation vs. the spelling is pretty phonetic, so I don’t see anyone tripping over it when they see and try to say it for the first time.

[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] gets an honourable mention because she might possibly see some spelling issues, but that’s not a huge deal unless you want to avoid names like that altogether.

My personal favourites are [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (I don’t think your sis’s middle name would be an issue, unless that’s what she goes by), [name_f]Elle[/name_f], and [name_f]Zosia[/name_f]. The rest I either don’t have a strong opinion of, or I talked about their drawbacks above.

I like:

[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]
