Thoughts on these names?

So I’ve just finished the characters in one of the many short stories I’m writing, and I was wanting some input on them. I hope you guys can help me out.

So here they are:
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_m]Painter[/name_m]- main female character (4/5 years old)
[name_u]Pax[/name_u] Baelfire/Baelfire [name_u]Pax[/name_u]- main male character (19) he’s [name_u]Fable[/name_u]'s older brother… they’re parents have a unique naming style. I haven’t decided which way his name will be, and I’d love some input on which you think sounds better. If Baelfire ends up being his first name, he will be called [name_f]Bae[/name_f] the majority of the time.
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]- supporting male character (ageless. He’s an angel boy but died at about 7)
[name_f]Poesy[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]- supporting female character (ageless. She’s an angel girl but died about 4/5)

So basically I’d like to know if you think [name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u]/Baelfire would be alright as siblings, and just your overall opinions on the names (especially [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] as he’s my favorite :D). I know they’re a little different, but they’re supposed to be.

Thanks in advance!
Hugs,
[name_m]Zo[/name_m]

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u] don’t really work together for me. And [name_u]Fable[/name_u] doesn’t sound like a girl (or a name). I’m thinking perhaps Mythos & Baelfire?

Theres a writers corner s3ction on here - you might get a better response there

I am moving this to the Writer’s Forum. That’s what it’s for.

Also, next time, us the forms in the Writer’s Forum. There are rules there for a reason.

Oops, I guess in my noobness I just figured that I’d get some good responses in regular baby names. Anyways, I like Myth, but I don’t really want to change [name_u]Fable[/name_u]'s name, especially as the story is really built around her.

I’m just going to answer your question here as you also asked for our general opinion on the names

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_m]Painter[/name_m] - [name_u]Fable[/name_u] sounds cool but [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_m]Painter[/name_m] sounds like someone who paints fable wall decals; like a fable painter.
[name_u]Pax[/name_u] Baelfire - I like [name_u]Pax[/name_u] better than Bealfire and like them better together this way
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]- sounds nice, it’s not my style but a great combo
[name_f]Poesy[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]- a little bit too cutesy for me. Is she someone’s sibling?

Now, it’s understandable as a noob that you might not put things in the right place. Now you know for next time.

Now to answer your questions:

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u] go well together as siblings. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_m]Painter[/name_m] is a little strange is it sounds like someone who paints fables, but if you like it then that’s fine.

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a very handsome name. I love it!

[name_f]Poesy[/name_f] is something I hadn’t heard before! I like it’s meaning, but at the same time, I thought it was a misspelling of [name_f]Posy[/name_f]. You might not like that. I also think it’s weird to have [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_u]Fable[/name_u] unless you’ll never hear [name_f]Poesy[/name_f]'s middle name.

I think [name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u] sound fine as very unique names in a unique story. Sorry but I don’t like Baelfire at all—sounds like a way to burn witches.

I agree with the pp that [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_m]Painter[/name_m] sounds like a person who paints fables. What about [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Petra[/name_f]? or [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]?
For [name_u]Pax[/name_u], what about [name_u]Pax[/name_u] Balen?

[name_m]Kieren[/name_m] and [name_f]Posey[/name_f] are nice, especially since they’re meant to be fantastical.

(In all honesty, I don’t think middle names for literary characters are all that important. Unless you’re making it an important plot development it’s likely that the middle will never be used, or maybe mentioned once. It’s nice to have to make them feel fuller, but authors who stress those sorts of things in their actual text tend to be rather pedestrian.)

Thanks for the responses! I think you guys are right that [name_u]Pax[/name_u] should be his first name.
opheliaflora- No, [name_f]Poesy[/name_f] isn’t anyones sibling. She and [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] serve as [name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u]'s guardians (respectively), so to speak.
dantea- Like you said, [name_f]Poesy[/name_f] is a bit uncommon (as is [name_f]Posy[/name_f]) so I feel like readers won’t necessarily think it’s a misspelling. While her parents were a bit strange, I’m beginning to think [name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_m]Painter[/name_m] may be too out there and she needs a more “normal” middle, although it won’t be heard often in the story. Oh, I also wanted to tell you that I think your daughter’s name is gorgeous by the way
kala_way- I’m not set on [name_u]Fable[/name_u]'s middle beginning with a P, but I kind of like [name_f]Petra[/name_f]. You’re right in that their middles won’t often be heard, however I do like to have them ready just in case. I suppose it’s my inner name nerd coming out so I like for all of my OCs to have full names whether they are used or not.
