[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Here are my thoughts-
Ambrose-I donāt mind it. I canāt quite get into it, but I find it interesting & old fashioned. I do love the idea of [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] nn [name_m]Abe[/name_m].
Wilfred-I like [name_u]William[/name_u] & Fred(eric), but [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] sounds too stuffy for whatever reason. [name_f]Do[/name_f] love the nns [name_m]Fred[/name_m] & [name_u]Freddie[/name_u].
Francis-I donāt mind this. [name_f]My[/name_f] dh loves this name, & finds it super masculine. Which I find weird, since itās unisex in my opinion & I prefer it for a girl spelled [name_f]Frances[/name_f].
Arden-I think that this is used way more for girls, but it sounds boyish to me. I donāt think that the sound is particularly interesting though. I love love the nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u].
Douglas-Itās refreshing these days, but maybe a little bit dated. Doesnāt do much for me, but not a bad name. I donāt really like [name_m]Doug[/name_m] though. It just sounds a little frumpy. A bit of a stretch, but I love the idea of [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] nn [name_m]Lad[/name_m].
Walter-This is cute. Kind of a good classic sweet old man name. I like it more in theory than the sound, but a fun choice either way. I actually know a nine year old boy named Walter/Walt, & still have a hard time believing itās his name sometimes!
Ernest-Another one that I like in theory more than actually saying it out loud. [name_u]An[/name_u] interesting vintage choice none the less.
Percy-I want to like this, but find it a bit too cutesy. Better as a nn for [name_m]Percival[/name_m], which is fine but kind of snooty.
Alistair-I like this a lot. Itās smart & handsome & charming. And this is my favorite spelling. Somebody on these boards had mentioned [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] nn [name_m]Alec[/name_m]. I love that idea!
Benedict-I love Ben(jamin), but [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] sounds too stuffy. There was a little toddler [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] at the doctorās office the other day, & it just didnāt seem to fit.
Orson-Itās not bad. I prefer [name_m]Oren[/name_m], but thatās because I love Hebrew names! Kind of strongly associated w/Orson [name_m]Wells[/name_m]. Which isnāt necessarily good or bad.
Edmund-I prefer [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] or [name_u]Edward[/name_u]. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] sounds the stuffiest of the āEdā names.
Aubrey-Definitely better for a boy, but so trendy for girls.
Clement-I should like it since I adore [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for a girl, but itās not my cup of tea. It sounds kind of a abrupt. Cool unique choice though.
Augustus-I prefer just [name_u]August[/name_u], but this is handsome. Lots of good nn options too.
Evander-I donāt mind it, but just donāt like the sound much.
Isidore-I think that itās a interesting choice, but maybe just a little clunky.
I think in conclusion, your names are a little too old man-ish for me, but I really appreciate them if that makes sense! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
