Thoughts on these names?

I never really see these names being discussed anywhere and I was just curious what impressions people had of them. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like them? Why or why not? What kind of vibes do they give you? I’m not considering them for myself, but just curious!

[name_u]Wilson[/name_u]
[name_m]Carlo[/name_m]
[name_u]Roy[/name_u]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Keanu[/name_m]

[name_u]Wilson[/name_u] - kind of rugged and along the same vibes as [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Wilf[/name_m], [name_u]Lawson[/name_u] - it feels like it could gain popularity

[name_m]Carlo[/name_m] - I enjoy how this feels familiar but has flair too. I knew a lovely kid called [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] at my old job - very polite and gentle, but funny too

[name_u]Roy[/name_u] - it’s got an interesting and distinctive sound but I’m not sure how I actually feel about it

[name_u]Taylor[/name_u] - it’s okay - it just lacks any shine for me. It’s odd, as [name_u]Tay[/name_u] is one of my favourites and so is [name_m]Tor[/name_m] - and both could be nicknames so…

[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] - slightly regal, slightly rough round the edges but refined and literary (Poe and Wuthering Heights) - but not sure I love it

[name_m]Keanu[/name_m] - distinctive and interesting - I would associate it very much with [name_m]Keanu[/name_m] [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] (not a bad thing, just what I’d think of)

wilson - i hear dennis the menace going “MR WILSON!!”, feels old timey

carlo - your average hispanic tio

roy - not modern, but couldnt place a decade to it. can’t imagine it on a kid? don’t love the sound of it :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

taylor - the gender neutral popular friend. i like it, but it’s your blase average english speaker somewhere

edgar - i’ve never met a nice one, or a young one, so i’m biased here. it’s just a steer clear away for me.

keanu - i love it, but i try to avoid using hawaiian names that i have no business getting into, even if they’re great.

I love [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] for a boy! So handsome and cowboy-cool.

[name_m]Carlo[/name_m] is nice as well, and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] too. I like [name_m]Keanu[/name_m] but would be surprised/maybe uncomfortable to hear it outside of a Hawaiian context, even with the popularity of [name_m]Keanu[/name_m] [name_m]Reeves[/name_m].

[name_u]Roy[/name_u] and [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] don’t appeal to me much personally. [name_u]Roy[/name_u] I could see growing on me. [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] feels kind of, whiny, almost? I don’t know why at all. It just feels somehow less pleasant than other [name_m]Wil[/name_m]- or -son named to me.

[name_u]Wilson[/name_u] - i encountered this the other day and i think i like it quite a bit! i don’t love the nn [name_u]Will[/name_u], but i do like the sound of [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] in full. i also think of Hozier’s [name_u]Jackie[/name_u] and [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] which is a positive association for me

[name_m]Carlo[/name_m] - i don’t love it, but i do prefer it to [name_m]Carl[/name_m] and [name_m]Carlos[/name_m]! i will say that the more i’m saying it, the more it’s growing on me. the -o sound is definitely appealing!

[name_u]Roy[/name_u] - nms at all unfortunately; it’s just such a dad name to me

[name_u]Taylor[/name_u] - i know a male [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], and yet it’s still all feminine to me  i think the [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m] association is too strong for [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] to work in a masc context - give it a few decades and i think it’ll be more approachable.

[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] - suuuper [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m] [name_u]Poe[/name_u], but that’s not a bad thing! i prefer most other [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- names because the -gar ending is a bit jarring for me

[name_m]Keanu[/name_m] - i’m not a fan, but i do like the meaning! and i do think that this is one name that’s 100% associated with a celebrity, for better or for worse. i do like [name_m]Keanu[/name_m] [name_m]Reeves[/name_m], but the association is too strong for me.
