I never really see these names being discussed anywhere and I was just curious what impressions people had of them. Do you like them? Why or why not? What kind of vibes do they give you? I’m not considering them for myself, but just curious!
Mariah
Kyla
Trina
Kira
Viridiana
Lalaine (yes if you watched Lizzie McGuire then it’s inseparable from Miranda’s actress but I’m just curious what people think about the name itself lol)
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f] - tied to [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] for me, and I’m not sure I like the sounds. Think it’s better as a brand or name of a company/school/medical device etc. I prefer [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f] or [name_u]Marion[/name_u].
[name_f]Kyla[/name_f] - this gives strong Aussie, beachy gal vibes, happy, sporty and sunskissed!
[name_f]Trina[/name_f] - I’ve only heard this as a nickname to [name_f]Katrina[/name_f] - which is now seen as an 80s name. I don’t love the sound of “treen”. Two syllable A ending names have been dominating the last couple of decades but I think this has too many strong letters (T, R and N).
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] - I really like this name though I prefer the Australian indigenous name, [name_f]Kirra[/name_f] (so a faster name - [name_f]Kira[/name_f] has slower vowels than the zippy Kirra),
[name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] - first time I’ve heard of this, would need to get used to it, love [name_f]Diana[/name_f], not sure about the Viri up front. [name_u]Will[/name_u] have to search into its origins…
Lalaine - new for me too. Fits with the L reign of recent times. I prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] - but heftier than Lalaine and gives the [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] nickname without the slightly limp [name_f]Lala[/name_f] - but wouldn’t be surprised to meet a Lalaine.
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: just saw [name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] a Spanish name - I can see it working but I’m personally not a “dee-AAH- na” fan, I prefer “Dye-anna” (with a flat A). Again, probably just from exposure to the sounds.
I like [name_f]Kira[/name_f] and [name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] (never heard of Lalaine and not sure how to pronounce it!) [name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] reminds me of emeralds, [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Veritas[/name_f].
For me, [name_f]Kira[/name_f] is a refreshing alternative to [name_f]Keira[/name_f]. It reminds me of [name_f]Kiri[/name_f], which is a cute short name that’s not used much in the US.
For some reason Olympic ice skating comes to mind with [name_f]Trina[/name_f] (not a bad thing but I’m not sure why haha?)
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f] - pretty, but reminds me really strongly of [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u].
[name_f]Kyla[/name_f] - it sounds forgettable and trendy, like I’ve known 50 people with something sort of like this name (Kayla, [name_u]Kyle[/name_u], [name_f]Kyra[/name_f], [name_f]Kylie[/name_f], [name_f]Tyla[/name_f], [name_f]Myla[/name_f], [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], [name_u]Kyler[/name_u], Tyler) but not this exact name.
[name_f]Trina[/name_f] - kind of pretty I guess? is it short for [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]?
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] - simple, but nice. This is my favorite spelling of this name, I think. I also like [name_f]Keira[/name_f].
[name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] - I’ve never heard this before but I kind of love it.
Lalaine - I’ve never heard of this name, is this pronounced like La-Lane?
[name_f]My[/name_f] impressions / thoughts on this lovely list of names:
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f] - I really like this one! It isn’t one that I would go for myself (not for any particular reason), but it’s really lovely! It immediately brings to mind open fields and sunny days for me. I will mention, though, if you would care, that I know a [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] and she gets mistakenly called [name_u]Maria[/name_u] often.
[name_f]Kyla[/name_f] - Not my style, but sweet! It feels modern to me but still manages to hold on to a whimsical and slightly nature-sequel vibe.
[name_f]Trina[/name_f] - I feel very middle of the road on this one; there’s nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t do anything to make me like it either. It does feel a bit dated to the 70’s/80’s for me, but not incredibly so. A little [name_f]Trina[/name_f] could be really sweet!
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] - Another one that I don’t feel strongly one way or the another about. Also feels slightly dated, but not so much that it would be unusable nowadays.
[name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] - [name_f]Beautiful[/name_f]! Immediately evokes imagery of mountains for me. It feels a bit ‘guilty pleasure’ to me, but if you’re brave enough, I say absolutely use it! I would love to meet a [name_f]Viridiana[/name_f]!
Lalaine - I’ve never heard this name before (and don’t know about the actress that you spoke on), but it’s an interesting one! I think it’s possible that some people would have trouble saying or hearing it correctly. That would personally put me off of it, although I do like the sound of it.
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f] - I like the slight grander and elegant feel, though it does remind me of [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u]
[name_f]Kyla[/name_f] - quite sharp and bright and contemporary. I don’t mind it but I prefer the other similar sounding names
[name_f]Trina[/name_f] - it’s got a sort of sassiness to it while it feels a tad clunky too?
[name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] - this has grandeur and a kind of mystical feel. I think I prefer just [name_u]Viridian[/name_u] but I don’t mind it
Lalaine - is this luh-lane? it’s kind of appealing, a bit like [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f], and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] smooshed together
[name_f]Mariah[/name_f] - I always think of [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u] as I don’t know anyone else with the name
[name_f]Kyla[/name_f] - I think it’s pretty, but just feels like it’s missing something to me
[name_f]Trina[/name_f] - Feels like a nickname to me
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] - I know someone who makes videos on YouTube with this name and I’m not a fan because of that
[name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] - feels like there’s too much going on. Too many letters and sounds.
Lalaine- I did watch [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] McGuire but that didn’t come to mind when reading this name. again, it feels like too many letters and sounds and a bit overwhelming to say.
