Thoughts on these names

hi berries!

I was just contemplating some new additions to my (never ending) list, and I wanted some feedback! Please comment on what you think of these names and possibly some more like them.

Novelle
[name_f]Blue[/name_f]

Summary for [name_f]Blue[/name_f]

ok, I know [name_f]Blue[/name_f] is a masculine name, but for some reason my brain is insisting it’s a girl name. I like it as a nickname for [name_f]Bluebelle[/name_f]. please don’t think I’m too crazy lol.

[name_f]Merit[/name_f]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

thanks in advance!

I have a friend with all girls, Her youngest is [name_f]Blue[/name_f]. I see it as a girls name.

I love Blubell ‘Blue’, I also see Blue as a girl’s name. I love Jasper too and Novelle is pretty. I’m not a huge fan of Merit, just because I see it as a merit like a reward :woman_shrugging:

Edit: Sorry just noticed that this was Jasper for a girl! In that case I’m not too keen on it as Jasper is all boy to me

I agree with PP about [name_f]Merit[/name_f]. I do think Novelle is a bit close to [name_m]Novel[/name_m] and I would prefer [name_f]Novella[/name_f]. But it is pretty

Novelle - agree; I like [name_f]Novella[/name_f] more, but idk if I’d use it given the meaning of [name_f]Novella[/name_f].
[name_f]Blue[/name_f] - I feel like this is pretty unisex… I like something like [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] or [name_f]Boheme[/name_f] more than [name_f]Blue[/name_f], though; I like some color names, but I like [name_m]Bo[/name_m] in theory more than [name_f]Blue[/name_f].
[name_f]Merit[/name_f] - I like [name_m]Merritt[/name_m] on both genders, but I do prefer [name_m]Merritt[/name_m] to [name_f]Merit[/name_f].
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] - used to really appreciate [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] on a girl—and also Jasperine—but it does seem a bit unrealistic now. I don’t see why it couldn’t be a girl’s name since [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], and [name_f]Ruby[/name_f] are, but with Jasper’s masculine use, it might be frustrating in real life. I think [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], Jessamy/Jessamine, or Jasperine might be easier to wear?

[name_m]Merritt[/name_m] is my favorite

Novelle - Not entirely sure how this pronounced but I’d personally probably prefer nuh-VEL. A bit wordy for my tastes, but certainly cool!

[name_f]Blue[/name_f] - Feels pretty gender-neutral to me tbh. I’m a little surprised how little this one is used given how popular a lot of more adventurous choices are right now, it feels unexpected but also very calm and toned-down

[name_f]Merit[/name_f] - I really like the vibe this one gives off, it seems vintage and kind of forgotten in recent years but also fits in nicely with modern name trends

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] - I really like it for a boy, though not as big a fan for a girl. Definitely has a very nice feel to it though, regardless of gender

[name_f]Questa[/name_f]
[name_f]Ernestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Piper[/name_f]
[name_m]Cyan[/name_m]

Novelle → I like the sound and the bookish feel, but the ‘short story’ gives me pause

[name_f]Blue[/name_f] → I see [name_f]Blue[/name_f] as unisex! A cool, calm name with a lovely sound. I’ve met someone with [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f] as a middle - and someone called Bluette so it doesn’t feel too outlandish

[name_f]Merit[/name_f] → sweet and zippy, concise and smart - I like it

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] → sleek and sharp - unexpected for girls, but I like it

I’ve never heard Novelle before but I really like it.
I definitely see [name_f]Blue[/name_f] as unisex, and I don’t think many people would think it’s strange considering Beyonce’s daughter is called [name_f]Blue[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. It’s not my personal style but I like it.
I personally prefer [name_f]Merit[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for boys but I can see them working on girls.

Novelle: I prefer [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], Novelle sounds to me like, “that’s a novel idea”.
[name_f]Blue[/name_f]: I know a guy named this and of course it’s a popular dog name on all those kid cartoons. For a girl, I’m kind of over it to be honest, it seems like the name is given to a girl when you’re trying to be trendy and unique at the same time. This is probably just me though, a lot of people seem to love [name_f]Blue[/name_f] for a girl.
[name_f]Merit[/name_f]: I worked with a lady named [name_m]Merritt[/name_m]. I thought it was an interesting name and has a strong sound to it. I did love that she never shortened it to “Meri”, she always went by [name_m]Merritt[/name_m].
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]: I actually am liking this for a girl, it reminds me of [name_f]Piper[/name_f] and [name_f]Harper[/name_f]. I still prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] to be used for a boy, but it could work for a girl.
