I like both names and I’d appreciate hearing any thoughts or feedback. Brutal honesty preferred…
First impression on hearing these names? Good impression or bad?
Which ethnicity does it bring to mind? (Serious question)
[name_m]How[/name_m] are they to live with?
They’re both pretty names, but I think the spelling of [name_f]Nya[/name_f] is confusing. Assuming you want it pronounced Ny-uh, I think spelling it [name_f]Naia[/name_f] or [name_f]Naya[/name_f] would be clearer. Both of those spellings also look more aesthetically pleasing imo as well.
I don’t really have any specific images in mind for the ethnicity of the person with these names. For some reason though, I image that a girl named [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] would be blonde? And actress [name_f]Naya[/name_f] Rivera is mixed, so that’s the closest association I have for [name_f]Nya[/name_f]. All in all, I think both names are perfectly livable and wearable.
I like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] very much – but have some reservations about [name_f]Nya[/name_f]. And questions. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it? Are you braced to always be spelling it and always telling those who read it how it is pronounced?
For me its lack of ethnicity is part of the problem. If I had to say – and I might be wrong – it hasn’t any roots. It’s a contemporary mintage – for better and for worse. That makes it fresh and free of old baggage – but that means it doesn’t conjure up positive or historic images and ideas either.
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] has dark hair – she is equal parts pretty and intelligent. She is vaguely [name_m]French[/name_m] – but only vaguely – which means she could be British, American, Australian, or Italian and fit in – and also stand out just a bit.
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] would make me think of christmas.
Also, I agree that the sp of [name_f]Naya[/name_f]/[name_f]Naia[/name_f] might look like more of a ‘full name’.
Otherwise, 2 very pretty names!
I love both [name_f]Nya[/name_f] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] portrays elegance and confidence, and I may be slightly biased because one of my best friends is names [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Nya[/name_f] because it’s short but uncommon and strong.
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] has a delicate, wintry feeling to me. I picture a little elfin looking girl with white-blonde hair and large dark eyes, someone quiet and bit mystical who loves the snow and likes to paint with watercolors. I am a big fan of this name.
[name_f]Nya[/name_f] has a warmier, spunkier vibe. I picture a teen girl rather than a little…tall, brown and leggy, always at the beach, someone who wears lots of orange, enjoys adventures, and loves to laugh. As other Berries have said, I prefer the [name_f]Naya[/name_f] / [name_f]Naia[/name_f] spellings, as they look more complete. My one hangup with this name is that I know a dog named Naiya. I am not sure if it is a popular animal name, or if this is just a one-off personal experience.
I quite like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. It’s gentle and upbeat, familiar but not overused. I would imagine a [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] to be caucasian/ European descent.
I’ve never heard the name [name_f]Nya[/name_f] before. It’s not my style but I don’t dislike it. I agree with vestigesofsummer that the spelling might be clearer if you went with [name_f]Naya[/name_f] or of [name_f]Naia[/name_f]. Personally I like [name_f]Naia[/name_f] the best. Since I’ve never head the name before, I don’t associate it with any particular ethnicity, but it sounds more exotic than [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. It’s [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]-y and sweet, and it kind of reminds me of a winter evening. I imagine a blonde-haired girl with a gentle, caring personality. On the other hand, [name_f]Nya[/name_f] is unique and fun. I can picture a girl with long black hair and a strong, wild demeanor.
I prefer [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] of the two, but [name_f]Nya[/name_f] is equally beautiful in its own way.
I love [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], don’t like [name_f]Nya[/name_f] at all. [name_f]Nia[/name_f] is a little better, but not really a fan of it either way.
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is very pretty. I would picture a girl named [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] to be blonde. I like [name_f]Nya[/name_f], but as a nickname. It doesn’t seem complete on it’s own. My best friend has a daughter named [name_f]Saniyah[/name_f] with the nickname Niyah, pronounced Ny-uh. I would picture a girl named [name_f]Nya[/name_f] to be at least part African/[name_m]Black[/name_m]/Carribbean.
[name_f]Naya[/name_f] (I’d recommend spelling it like this) seems a lot more foreign from an American’s perspective, whereas [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] sounds like someone who is definitely Caucasian.
