Thoughts on these two names 🌸

What do you think of the name Sophia Pearl? We also like the name Ava Josephine or Ava Josephine Mae. The two names feel different to me but I cant put it into words. What are your thoughts? How do they compare? We need to finalize a name and its been a long road trying to come to a decision.

A few other names in consideration-
Ava Penelope Joy, Sophia Eleanor Mae or Ava Sophia Mae

Sisters are Naomi, Ruby, Stella & Charlotte.
Brother is Leo.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] has a really bright cadence to it. I like both [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] individually, but I find they fall a bit flat as a first and middle together, I’m not totally sure why. Perhaps their vibes are very similar?

I think [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is lovely however [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] just sings to me more she has this old school Hollywood vibe that is really appealing and she’s romantic. I also like that [name_f]Ava[/name_f] doesn’t repeat any initials in your sibling set.

I slightly prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] so all have same starting letter and bc [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] one of my all time faves.

But I prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - the addition of [name_f]Mae[/name_f] in third makes it sound like a sentence to me. This isn’t because I’m against two middles (my daughter has two), more that something about short long and short and the word “mae” is making my brain think of “may” when I wouldn’t if it were [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] for eg (actually that’s a pretty name too - one I one choose myself but [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] May!). [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] would flow better to me to a last name.

I love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] pearl. I prefer just [name_f]Ava[/name_f] josephine but mae is nice.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]

Thank you so much for the input! I see what you’re saying with [name_f]Mae[/name_f] on the end. I was thinking about adding it to get the nn [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] vs [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. But I also like the simple beauty of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] too!

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I’ve been really thinking about the repeat initials too. Its not ideal but I don’t think it bothers me too much, which is surprising. We also considered Samuel with my son and already had Stella so maybe we just like S names. Lol. I think Ive just really fallen for Sophia as a name. Maybe if I add another middle inbetween Sophia and Pearl it would sparkle a little more. I wish Ava would work in the middle spot but it just doesn’t- Sophia Ava Pearl sounds funny to my ears.

Yeah, I would go:

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (though I would probably have [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] Leonore/Leona/Norah [name_f]Mae[/name_f], just to avoid the slightly uneasy move from A of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] to E of Eleanor)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (even Ava-Mae Josephine)
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (I don’t think this pattern is as clunky/sentenc-y as [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] - because of the speed of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] carrying you more quickly to [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is too slow with [name_f]Mae[/name_f] afterwards).

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know what name I love: [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]! [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] Mae/ [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or even [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], would be so pretty, and add that little bit more weight to the name than [name_f]Ava[/name_f] alone. I think with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_u]Leo[/name_u] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] would work.

Thank you for adding your thoughts and what you’re hearing with the clunkiness of the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] on there with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I wasn’t sure which I liked more and simplicity of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is definitely pretty. I haven’t ever thought about [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]. I’ll definitely look it up. I have been really drawn to the meaning “life” that [name_f]Ava[/name_f] carries, esp for this baby. But [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is such a pretty name.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but I also love how [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] means “pearl of wisdom” !

Temper all my thoughts with (a) it’s your child’s name and (b) a lot hinges on the last name! All of these (and your other daughter’s) names are beautiful, so it just comes down to the combo.

I just don’t like [name_f]Mae[/name_f], it is somehow too childish looking for me like [name_u]Rae[/name_u] (no offence to anyone who likes it, it is just a personal perception) but I really love [name_f]Mei[/name_f] and [name_f]May[/name_f]

So may I suggest… [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] Ava-May?

[name_f]May[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would be super cool too!

If the repeated initials do not bother you then use [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]! Honestly I really love [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] she’s on my list but I prefer [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]! You could go [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] she would also get the nickname ‘SJ’ which is adorable. Alternatively I always liked [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] so [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] could be pretty. [name_m]Just[/name_m] for inspiration on my list I have [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_u]Rooney[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] which I think is really cool makes [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] feel a little quirkier. [name_u]Rooney[/name_u] is a family surname have you got any family surnames that you could use. For example if you were to use [name_u]Rooney[/name_u] I think [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_u]Rooney[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is lush. Anyways good luck

Thank you again for the thoughts! Your combination Sofia Rooney Kate is lovely-so playful & yet so beautiful. I love it when names have a creative honor too. Sophia Josephine Pearl is amazing. Im trying to see if it flows with our surname but at first glance I like it. :two_hearts:

Ava Josephine Pearl is pretty also, changing out Mae for Pearl.
