Thoughts on these?

Here are a few girls’ names I’ve been thinking about lately. Can I get some thoughts on each one? Also, I’m open to suggestions based on these and the names in my signature. I’m not too picky about names “going together,” so feel free to think outside the box.

[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Althea[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] – I love [name]George[/name] so much that now I like [name]Georgia[/name] for a girl. As someone from [name]Alabama[/name], I wonder if it wouldn’t be kind of odd though?

[name]Felicity[/name] & [name]Lydia[/name] are lovely, [name]Althea[/name] & [name]Georgia[/name] are meh (I much prefer [name]Georgiana[/name]) and I dislike [name]Winifred[/name].

I definitely share your love of vintage names I love a lot of these!

[name]Felicity[/name] - I love this one. I think its so wearable for a virtue name. It seems new and fresh and energetic but still with a sense of history.
[name]Winifred[/name] - This one still feels a little clunky to me. I picture a 19th century British housewife still
[name]Lydia[/name]- [name]Lydia[/name] is a new love of mine. I think Liddy is adorable and [name]Lydia[/name] feels [name]Emma[/name] did 10 years ago…a wearable antique.
[name]Georgia[/name] - Not my favorite version of the [name]George[/name] feminizations. To me it just feels too much like a place for me to get past. I prefer [name]Georgina[/name] or [name]Georgiana[/name] with the nn [name]Gigi[/name].
[name]Althea[/name] - Feels very greek to me, so maybe not as wearable as some of the others on your list. But then again I’m not very out of the box on these things.

Some one my list that might fit for you:
[name]Augusta[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]

[name]Felicity[/name]: I’m not crazy about this one because someone ruined it for me. The only [name]Felicity[/name] I’ve ever met basically defines the term “white trash” so I’ll probably never like this name.

[name]Winifred[/name]: This isn’t my style, but I could see it working for someone else. I think that [name]Winnie[/name] is a cute nn, however. Combo: [name]Winnifred[/name] [name]Cora[/name].

[name]Lydia[/name]: I actually like [name]Lydia[/name] a good bit, but it’s so old fashioned it seems out of date to me. A lot of people like that, though.

[name]Althea[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Althea[/name]. It’s a gorgeous name that I could see aging well. I really like the sound of [name]Althea[/name] [name]Jane[/name] when I was trying to come up with a combo for this name.

[name]Georgia[/name]: Like pp, I prefer [name]Georgiana[/name], and maybe since you live in [name]AL[/name], it would be a better choice for you? [name]Georgiana[/name] isn’t as tied to the state. [name]Georgiana[/name] (or [name]Georgia[/name]) [name]Helen[/name] would be a good combo.

[name]Felicity[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name], but I’ll always think of the WB/CW television show that I found very terrible. But, it’s spunky, sweet, energetic, lovely.

[name]Winifred[/name] - So I’m obviously a bit biased. I love this one, I really do. A number of people on here seem to find it clunky, even those who love the rest of the vintage set, but whenever I mention it in real life, people adore it, and I tested it quite a bit before putting it to use. I’d sort of be talking to friends like, “I’m vaguely thinking about [name]Winifred[/name] but not really because I know everyone will hate it because it’s terrible,” and everyone was like, “Whoa, [name]Winifred[/name] is beautiful, what are you talking about? It blows all your other names away!” [name]Said[/name] aloud, it’s quite regal and stately, but also has a tad bit of whimsy to it because it’s SO very odd. I can think of no other names that end similarly (girl names anyway). It’s truly in a class of it’s own in regards to sound. When the nurse started calling her [name]Winnie[/name], though, I had to shut it down, and we’ve been calling her [name]Fritzie[/name] or [name]Wendy[/name] when we want something shorter and less…mature.

[name]Lydia[/name] - Not a fan, because it’s the opposite of [name]Winifred[/name], in that it’s not really unique in sound: [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Sylvia[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], etc.

[name]Althea[/name] - [name]One[/name] of my favourites, clunky but kind of mythical sounding.

[name]Georgia[/name] - Have you thought about [name]Georgie[/name], perhaps? I agree with the others that [name]Georgia[/name] is my least favourite of the girl [name]George[/name] names. (WHY CAN’T WE [name]JUST[/name] HAVE [name]GEORGE[/name]?!), but I do admire its brevity, hence [name]Georgie[/name].

[name]Felicity[/name] - This isn’t my favorite virtue name, but it’s still extremely pretty. The meaning is great too.

[name]Winifred[/name] - I have a tougher time liking girl names that start with W. It just feels like a masculine letter to me, and [name]Winifred[/name] kinda gives me more masculine vibes. [name]Winnie[/name] isn’t bad though.

[name]Lydia[/name] - [name]Love[/name]! It was the very first name that I ever liked, and it began my name loving. It’s very lyrical and melodic to me, and I personally find it fresh and fun.

[name]Althea[/name] - I like the looks of [name]Althea[/name], but it’s a little lacking in sound for me.

[name]Georgia[/name] - I like it, but I like [name]Georgina[/name] even more. I personally don’t think it’s odd if you use it, but others might, so you may be better off with a variation of [name]Georgia[/name] or use [name]Georgia[/name] in the middle.

[name]Felicity[/name]- [name]Love[/name]. classy yet fun and quirky
[name]Winifred[/name]- ;ike it well enough. the name of one of my fave tv characters and love the nn fred
[name]Lydia[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]- in my top 20.
[name]Althea[/name]- this one doesn’t do it for me. prefer the simpler [name]Athena[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]- really like this one. also love the nicknames georgie and gigi

Oh, almost forgot. Suggestions!

[name]Mabel[/name], [name]Marjorie[/name]/[name]Margery[/name] (prefer the primer as it’s further away from “margarine”), [name]Amandine[/name], [name]Annette[/name], [name]Annabeth[/name], [name]Augusta[/name].

[name]Felicity[/name] - I like it, and understand the appeal, but when anyone says [name]Felicity[/name] all I can think of it “Oh, like the American Girl [name]Doll[/name].” It’s a silly thing, and I think it’s a lovely name, but I could never use it.

[name]Winifred[/name] - I have a secret (not so secret now) crush on this name. My husband would never agree though.

[name]Lydia[/name] - This is one of my best friend's name. I love her dearly and I am excited to meet any little girl with this name. It's so timeless and sweet.

[name]Althea[/name] - Not my style at all. It still sounds old lady to me, and not in a good way.

[name]Georgia[/name] - This is one of my favorite names. I love [name]Georgiana[/name] too, and think the nickname [name]Georgie[/name] is so great. I would use it but my husband would never go for it. I lived in [name]Georgia[/name] as a child and I have never questioned it as a name, so I don't think that anyone else would, especially considering that [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon just named her son [name]Tennessee[/name].

[name]Felicity[/name]- lovely name, sweet and pretty and proper!- the kind of name befitting a member of the British nobility. one of my favourites!
[name]Winifred[/name]- I actually like this now. spunky vintage chic
[name]Lydia[/name]- pretty and understated. it’s my middle name and I do like the sound, but the P&P reference ruins it for me
[name]Althea[/name]- not a fan, seems really heavy to me
[name]Georgia[/name]- a dramatic Southern belle name that makes me think of Gone with the Wind (one of my favourite movies). I do prefer [name]Georgiana[/name] though- it’s so much more elegant.

[name]Felicity[/name] - I’m usually not interested in virtue names, but I like this a lot. It’s pretty but has a bit of spunk, and isn’t as blatant as some of the other virtue names.
[name]Winifred[/name] - I find this absolutely hideous, sorry. I won’t even say what I think of [name]Winnie[/name].
[name]Lydia[/name] - Nice, solid name; doesn’t thrill me but is a perfectly good choice.
[name]Althea[/name] - It’s a more “mature” name but I like that. It conveys a quiet strength and poise, somehow, and it caught my eye as I read it instead of just blurring with all the other names. It’s been growing on me just as I’m typing this! I personally think it’s more wearable than [name]Athena[/name].
[name]Georgia[/name] - I love the sound of it, but I don’t really like place names.

Thanks for the feedback thus far. [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name] are getting the most love, which doesn’t surprise me because I see both names mentioned quite a bit around here. Opinions on [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Althea[/name], and [name]Georgia[/name] are split. I think I’m going to scratch [name]Georgia[/name] from this list…

[name]Felicity[/name]- I like this, but not enough to use as a first. I’d prefer it in the middle.
[name]Winifred[/name]- This is a great name, and the nickname [name]Winnie[/name] is adorable. This is one of my favorites.
[name]Lydia[/name]- Nyeh. The few [name]Lydia[/name]'s I’ve met are snobbish, and [name]Lydia[/name] from Pride and Prejudice isn’t a great role model. It’s pretty, but the associations I have take away from that.
[name]Althea[/name]- I like this enough, but it’s not my favorite. It feels a bit heavy next to [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name].
[name]Georgia[/name]- Like the previous posters, I prefer [name]Georgiana[/name], but this is nice too. It’s very sweet.

I think you have a good list overall, and good taste as well. A few suggestions I would have are: [name]Dorothea[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Petra[/name], [name]Helena[/name], [name]Ada[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Alberta[/name], [name]Nora[/name], and [name]Adela[/name].

I love your list!

[name]Felicity[/name] – Sweet and carefree. A word name, but so obsolete that it is fresh and meaningful.
[name]Winifred[/name] – I see the appeal but I just don’t like it.
[name]Lydia[/name] – The first name I ever loved. Very melodic.
[name]Althea[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this one! Pretty and quite rare. Feminine, but strong. Plus, the nice nn [name]Thea[/name].
[name]Georgia[/name] – [name]Love[/name]! This name is so rich and lush. [name]Georgiana[/name] is also a great suggestion!

Ideas:
[name]Willa[/name], [name]Wilhelmina[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Vera[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Millicent[/name], [name]Florence[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Winifred[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name]. Not a fan of [name]Althea[/name], and while [name]Georgia[/name] is nice it seems a bit bland to me.

[name]Felicity[/name] – [name]Love[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]! It’s such an underused name.
[name]Winifred[/name] – I like it but I’d never use it because of comments other people have said. I would love to see a little girl named [name]Winifred[/name], though! I especially like the nickname [name]Winnie[/name] or [name]Freda[/name].
[name]Lydia[/name] – [name]Love[/name] it, it’s on our long list.
[name]Althea[/name] – Gorgeous. I toyed with the idea of using it when I was pregnant with J. I would have used it to honor my great-aunt [name]Alethea[/name].
[name]Georgia[/name] – It’s nice but I prefer [name]Georgina[/name]. [name]Georgia[/name] seems a little too trendy for me. I think it would be fine to use with being in [name]Alabama[/name].

[name]Felicity[/name]- Very nice, great meaning. Reminds me of the show.
[name]Winifred[/name]- I can’t get behind this name. “[name]Fred[/name]” drags down the cuteness of Wini. I love the association with [name]Tuck[/name] Everlasting though.
[name]Lydia[/name]- Very pretty.
[name]Althea[/name]- My favorite on this list.
[name]Georgia[/name]- I love the name and think it is very usable. I also like [name]Georgiana[/name] as an alternative to [name]Georgia[/name].

[name]Felicity[/name] - Such a sweet name. I have always loved it.
[name]Winifred[/name] - I really don’t like this. It seem so old.
[name]Lydia[/name] - I not a fan of this either.
[name]Althea[/name] - I not sure about this one it just seem a bit dated.
[name]Georgia[/name] - I do like this but I prefer it as a middle name.

Okay, I’ve taken the list down to [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], and [name]Althea[/name]. I’m scratching [name]Georgia[/name] because, ultimately, I know that I’d never use [name]Georgia[/name] over [name]George[/name]. As uniquenamelover pointed out, the “fred” part of [name]Winifred[/name] drags the name down. It’s a little heavier than I would like.

Thanks for all of the opinions! Anyone else?

[name]Felicity[/name]-I really don’t like this name very much. To me it just sounds like [name]Felicia[/name] and City
[name]Winifred[/name]-The ‘fred’ part always puts me off, but it may be growing on me? [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Winona[/name]?
[name]Lydia[/name]-I appreciate this name, but it almost feels boring to me.
[name]Althea[/name]-This one’s on my list! I really love it, but worry about [name]Allie[/name] becoming a nn.
[name]Georgia[/name]-[name]LOVE[/name]. I really disagree with the posters who said [name]Georgina[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name] sound better. Ugh. Those names make me cringe. [name]Georgia[/name] is lovely.
