A friend just named her daughter [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]; I do remember thinking it sounded a bit dated.
I have another friend with a daughter named [name_f]Mira[/name_f], that’s a whole different story somehow- feels modern.

I love [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] not so much. It’s not that it feels dated, the r sound just feels so harsh in [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] and much softer and more pleasant in [name_f]Mira[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is lovely. I think it’s classic and not dated at all.
I don’t care for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], personally. But I associate it with the snarky, cynical and tough character from Sex and the City. But if you love “[name_f]Mira[/name_f]”, what about [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] / [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]? It would give her many nickname options as she grows up: [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I fell in love with the name [name_f]Mira[/name_f] when we were expecting our now six-year old daughter. My sister’s name is [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], however it didn’t immediately occur to me that [name_f]Mira[/name_f] could be a shortened or more modern take on [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. Of course, once it did it became another selling point. I think [name_f]Mira[/name_f] can completely stand on its own and we often receive compliments on her name. You will, however, have to get over the fact that people will frequently pronounce it [name_f]Myra[/name_f]. Good luck!
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mira[/name_f] would be lovely and very creative I don’t know any Mirandas of any age so I don’t find it dated or associate it with a particular age group.
I like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]!
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is one of my favorites! People seem to either love or hate [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], but with the nickname [name_f]Mira[/name_f] it seems to be more of a crowd pleaser. (I’ve posted about this before :))
My initial impression is that it sounds dated. But it also reminds me of a family I know with the last name [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. They are from South [name_u]America[/name_u] and have an adorable daughter named [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. The South American vibe makes it sound fresh to me.
I love [name_f]Mira[/name_f]! Sounds unique and modern.
[name_f]Mira[/name_f] is cute and spunky,[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] feels a little stale and dated to me. I kind of like [name_f]Mira[/name_f] on it’s own or as a nickname for another name.
