Thoughts on this sister-set?

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Prue[/name_f] as sisters? I think that [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] feels very buttoned-up but the nickname freshens it significantly. Neither name is currently on the top 1000, so they must have some quality that is similar. For me the similarity is that they both have personal meaning but no one else is going to have that information to color their perspective. That’s where you guys come in! [name_m]Will[/name_m] the names age well? Would you admire the parents’ choices, be indifferent or think they were taking crazy pills? What kind of personalities or career-paths would you associate with each of these names? The reason I ask that final question is that I’ve heard that uncommon names on resumes can effect ones chances of getting a call-back, and I want to know what you’d think of these in various contexts, including professional. I already know my mom hates the name [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and his mom hates the name [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], so I thought maybe some anonymous opinions would tip the scales. Any thoughts you can offer would be most helpful. Thank you so much!!

Um…also, if you don’t like them as a pair, are there any names you prefer with them?

I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] or [name_f]Pru[/name_f] (reminds me of prunes) and I don’t really think they fit together personally. Sorry.
What about…

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]

I don’t think any of these names are too “out there”. They’re recognizable and easy to pronounce without being overly popular. I can see them as tomboys or girlie girls. They’re spunky but still very feminine. There’s also a Greek mythology/[name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] feel that I think is gorgeous. At the end of the day though, they’re your kids and your opinions are the ones who really matter when it comes to naming your children.

I think [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Prue[/name_f] make a cute pair. I see them as being creative-type names. But, I think they’d be ok on a resume. I think [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] ages better then [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], but neither is a bad choice. If I were to pair these names with others I’d use [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]/ [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f].

I like both [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] but I do think they’re stylistically mismatched. One is feminine and ethereal ([name_f]Lyra[/name_f]) and the other is serious and down-to-earth ([name_f]Prudence[/name_f]). Have you thought about using them in a combo ([name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Prudence[/name_f]) instead of individually? It’s hard to predict what career path any child will follow simply by their name but I would think [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] may be easier to live up to and “look” better on a resume . I’m feeling that [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] would be better paired with something a little more exotic and/or unusual. Here are some examples.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Veda[/name_f] (swoon!)
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Undine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Beata[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Sonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Junia[/name_f]

I also think they are a mis-match.

With [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] I see more mythical names like (I was a fan of His Dark Materials series so I see [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] in that light)
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]/[name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Briony[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and Serephina

[name_f]Prudence[/name_f] is more puritan so I see it with names like [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], something with significant weight to it.
