Thoughts on this Spanish boy name?

[name_m]Enrique[/name_m] nn [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]

I heard the name [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] on Narcos Mexico (played by [name_u]Michael[/name_u] Peña) and I kinda fell in love with it. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is Puerto Rican, and I know the nickname is most common in Mexico, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Is it usable, or too feminine? Does it work for someone of Puerto Rican descent rather than Mexican? Our other choices for boys include [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m] [name_m]Antonio[/name_m] “[name_m]Tito[/name_m]” and [name_m]Santiago[/name_m] José “[name_m]Santi[/name_m]” for reference.

TIA!

Thank you! I think so too  they also used Kikito in the show and I thought that was so sweet.

I like [name_m]Enrique[/name_m]! I actually used to know an [name_m]Enrico[/name_m] (not sure how he spelled it). To be honest, I’m not sure [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] works for a boy if you live in an [name_f]English[/name_f]-speaking country, though I do like it. It just sounds super feminine to me as someone who isn’t Latin American.

I like it! I actually know a male [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] so I think it works on a boy.

I think your husband and his fam will probably have a better idea of it’s usability in PR than I would, but I really like it and I think it’s a little more handsome than [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m]. I think it would make a nice brother to [name_m]Santiago[/name_m] nn [name_m]Santi[/name_m].

I also like [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] but might use [name_m]Kiko[/name_m] instead because that sounds like it would age a bit better to me

It’s NMSAA but nice for others.

I love [name_m]Enrique[/name_m] with the nickname [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]! [name_m]Enrique[/name_m] sounds very handsome to me. If I read [name_f]Kiki[/name_f], I would automatically assume it as feminine but I have never met anyone nicknamed [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]. Another poster mentioned [name_m]Kiko[/name_m], I like that a bit more than [name_f]Kiki[/name_f]. I don’t think you will run into any problems with [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] though.

I also love [name_m]Santiago[/name_m] “[name_m]Santi[/name_m]”! [name_m]Tito[/name_m] reminds me of the brand unfortunately. How would you feel about using [name_u]Ricky[/name_u] for [name_m]Enrique[/name_m]? It sounds similar to [name_f]Kiki[/name_f].

Enrique is a really handsome choice I think it’s strong and definitely works with Eduardo & Santiago. I think Kiki works as a nickname too. In relation to Enrique working for a child of Puerto Rican descent I don’t know much about Latin/Hispanic culture unfortunately I would say speak too your husband’s family about that.

Good luck with it all.

Thank you! Unfortunately we can’t use [name_u]Ricky[/name_u], but [name_m]Kiko[/name_m] is definitely an option. We’ve had a really difficult time agreeing on boy names, but it’s customary in his family for the first son to be named after his father. We chose [name_m]Tito[/name_m] as a family nickname for him to differentiate him from my husband, but he’ll likely be [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m], [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], etc. to friends and others.

Thank you! I really love the suggestion of [name_m]Kiko[/name_m]. We’ll definitely be using [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m] first, as it’s tradition for the first son to be named after his father. think if we were to have three boys though that [name_m]Eduardo[/name_m], [name_m]Santiago[/name_m] and [name_m]Enrique[/name_m] would work nicely together! I think running Kiki by my husband’s family is definitely be best idea.

I definitely get that. We live in the states and I’ve always seen [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] used in a feminine way. I think it might be similar to [name_m]Tito[/name_m] where he’d be call [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] as a family name but is called [name_m]Enrique[/name_m] or another nickname by friends and others.

Thank you! I think it might be a nickname we use for family more so than everyone but I’m glad to know how it’d be received by others.

Thank you! I’ve seen it one other time on a man and I thought it worked so well on him. He was actually African American and very masculine, so I think it balanced out.

Thank you so much! I think you’re right going to the source with his family is the best plan. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to know [name_m]Enrique[/name_m] nn [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] is well-received overall.

I really like the name [name_m]Enrique[/name_m]. I knew [name_m]Kiko[/name_m] ([name_m]Quico[/name_m]) was a nickname for [name_m]Enrique[/name_m], but I hadn’t heard [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] until I saw that show with my husband. I think either would work for a family nickname.

I like Queque a lot! It might be easier for my husband’s family as well, though I’m sure my family will still say it more as kee-kee. Thank you!

Ooh I love the [name_m]Quico[/name_m] spelling! I’ve never seen that but I much prefer it to [name_m]Kiko[/name_m]. Thank you!
