Thoughts on Tomlin

Thoughts on the name [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] for a baby boy? I like the possibility of using [name_u]Tommy[/name_u] as a NN without using [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]

I think it’s a great choice! Cool, handsome, and unique yet familiar, with that surname-y feel that’s in style right now.

[name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] is really dashing! I love the sort of jazzy, surname feel of it. :trumpet:

I love it!

I’m sorry, I’m not a fan , all I can think of is the One Direction singer [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Tomlinson[/name_m] . If I met a boy named [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] I would just assume the mother used to be a massive fan in the 2010s.

That sounds like a stretch to me but I appreciate the perspective

I like it! It used to be on my list, after singer [name_u]Chris[/name_u] [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m]. I’ve grown to prefer [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] myself but I still think [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] is a really cool name!

Ooo, I actually really like that idea! [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] is distinct, yet pretty easy to say, spell, and remember!

It’s not my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal and think it’s nice for others!

We have a family member named [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] who goes by [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] so that’s out of the question. But we wanted to honor my grandfather who was “Tommy” his whole life even though his name was actually [name_u]Clarence[/name_u].

I think it’s super! Reminds me of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m], who is great. I love a surname-y name. This one is super cool, a bit of a vintage edge to him.

I automatically think of singer [name_u]Chris[/name_u] Tonkin. I like it!

[name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] is cool - it has a light, fresh but warm sound

I like it! [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] feels youthful but grounded at the same time.

Surprised no one has mentioned [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m]. Oh never mind they have! I think it could work for a boy but does make me think it’s a family name or maybe there’s a [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] in the family.

[name_m]Eh[/name_m], personally I prefer [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] more. But I’m a big [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] fan! I don’t go to [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Tomlinson[/name_m] and I don’t think I’d necessarily assume they were huge 1D fans but I do go straight to people with the surname [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m] (like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m], also [name_u]Christian[/name_u] worship leader/musician [name_u]Chris[/name_u] Tomlin). To me it feels more surname instead of surname-turned-first-name, but I suppose it could work. The sound itself works, I just don’t find myself liking it as a given name, sorry!

I’m not usually one for surname-names, but I really dig [name_m]Tomlin[/name_m], especially with nn [name_u]Tommy[/name_u]!
