[name_m]Just[/name_m] looking for any thoughts - what you think of when you hear this name, or how the name feels, or how you think a person with this name would look or be like.
Hubby dropped this suggestion seemingly out of the blue, and I’m not sure if I’m opposed to it but not sure if I like it either, keen to hear others’ thoughts!
I feel a bit like you do, there’s nothing wrong with it but it doesn’t light me up either, maybe a bit harsh off the tongue? It’s an old fashioned and now uncommon name, which is still known. [name_u]Vinnie[/name_u] maybe a natural nn, which is kind of cute.
Thanks! I’m borrowing my partner’s phone now and did a search of the forum for other posts about [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] (my phone was playing up which made that hard)… and it seems like most are ok with it but some think it’s a bit cold/sterile. I prefer [name_m]Vince[/name_m] to [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] as one of my friends flatted with a [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] who was a rude, horrible a-hole to her!
It also feels a bit like a vampire name to me, but maybe that’s just due to some of the books I read as a tween! And also feels like more of a brunette or black-haired person (maybe due to the vampire vibes?) whereas we’re likely to have a blonde or ginger curly-haired kid.
Still finding boys names so damm hard… we were dead set on [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] for any future boys just last week, then I discovered it’s currently in the top 10 in my country, which just seems a bit too popular :-/
And also, like you said, it’s a bit harsh sounding… the v and n and t sounds without anything to soften them maybe?
I absolutely love [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], and especially [name_m]Vince[/name_m] and [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] (and variation [name_m]Vicente[/name_m]). When I hear [name_m]Vince[/name_m]/Vincé I think of someone tall & handsome, and fierce but sweet. It works for all ages though, I would love to call a little baby boy [name_u]Vinny[/name_u].
I love [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]! It just gives me vibes of the show, All I Like About You, with [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] Bynes. It’s very underrated. If you aren’t keen on it maybe try to find a compromise? Like a name similar to [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]. Or maybe use it as a mn with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]?
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] has a very vintage, clunky feel to me with very 80s/90s vibes. It reminds me of [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Vega[/name_u] from Pulp Fiction, and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Lowe[/name_m] from [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_u]Mars[/name_u]. There isn’t anything wrong with it, but it doesn’t really grab me.
Like everyone else said - not bad, but not amazing either. I think [name_m]Vin[/name_m] would be a great nn, especially as he gets older.
If you’re looking for something like [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] but not quite as dated, I suggest [name_u]Vernon[/name_u] - the same sort of soft-sounding, old-fashioned appeal but without the earlier popularity spike. It doesn’t come with an easy nn though.
I love [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], but I’m not crazy about [name_m]Vince[/name_m]/[name_u]Vinny[/name_u]. [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] van Gogh had an uncle with the same name who went by Uncle Cent. If [name_m]Cash[/name_m] can work, why not Cent for nickname?
I like [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]’s soft, vintage, artsy feel. I’d imagine a boy with this name to be smart, well-read and a bit quirky.
I get this nerdy, goth vibe from it because of [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Price[/name_m] and that’s what makes me like it! I like it better as a middle name though because I don’t love the nickname [name_u]Vinnie[/name_u].
