It’s definitely feminine and easy to pronounce. But to me it seems a little mismatched with [name]Delilah[/name]. I would expect a sibling of [name]Zenobia[/name] to be named something along the lines of [name]Andromeda[/name]/[name]Idalah[/name]/[name]Ione[/name]/[name]Tempest[/name]/[name]Mireille[/name]… I guess something a little more unique and unusual. While [name]Delilah[/name] I might expect a sibling named [name]Olive[/name]/Ciciely/[name]Haven[/name]… Not popular but still familiar. If that makes any sense.
Though my personal opinion is that you should choose the names you love, rather than try and ‘match’ the sib set, so even though it is a little unexpected it’s still usable
Sorry… Maybe I wasn’t clear.
[name]Zenobia[/name] would be one option… [name]Delilah[/name] would be another option for a name. They are not part of a sib set:)
[name]Just[/name] contemplating between the two names.
I think its lovely, and decidedly feminine.
I like it more than [name]Delilah[/name]! [name]Delilah[/name] is 1. more common and 2. makes me think of the Biblical character (and I am not/was not raised [name]Christian[/name]).
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Zenobia[/name], it was on my list. The only reason it’s off now is that I didn’t get a nature vibe from it.
[name]Zenobia[/name] was a Syrian queen, she went to war against [name]Rome[/name] and conquered [name]Egypt[/name]. When she was defeated, Emperor [name]Aurelian[/name] had her brought to [name]Rome[/name] in golden chains, but he was so impressed by her dignity and beauty that he freed her and she lived the rest of her life as a [name]Roman[/name] socialite. Pretty cool namesake?
I think [name]Zenobia[/name] is a great middle- [name]Tina[/name] [name]Fey[/name] used it for daughter [name]Alice[/name]'s middle- but as a first, it seems a bit over the top. To me, it sounds like somebody trying to be weird. And I see the appeal, it is a nice sounding name and I still like it as a middle, but it seems like a name somebody would use when trying to be funny.
I think [name]Zenobia[/name] fits in well with today’s names. It’s frilly, is exotic, and ends with ‘ia’. [name]Zena[/name], [name]Zen[/name], and [name]Zenna[/name] are all great nicknames, even [name]Bea[/name] works.
(It was also the name of a ship in the Resident Evil video game series that was haunted by zombified mutants. That’s a plus for me, but it really doesn’t matter, since only nerds will recognize it.)
It’s feminine, easy to pronounce, and unique. I think of flowers or a charming young lady picked right out of the roaring 20’s. I like it a bit better than [name]Delilah[/name]. I think it’s because it’s do unheard of it seems fresh.
It has always reminded me of the word xenophobia too. I don’t see the appeal of the sound of it, but when it’s brought up on here, people really love it. I much prefer [name]Delilah[/name] though.
I’m not a fan. It’s sounds too sci-fi to me (though I’m aware that that’s the appeal for some). Nicknames might be a little hard, too. Bia’s a great nn (my best friend’s actually) but [name]Zeno[/name] is kind of terrible.
I much prefer the cute and classy [name]Delilah[/name].
[name]One[/name] of my all time favorites is [name]Zenobia[/name], I would probably use it if my last name didn’t have a silent z. She was also known as the Warrior [name]Queen[/name], and she’s a literary namesake from [name]Ethan[/name] Frome by [name]Edith[/name] [name]Wharton[/name], there was also a [name]Saint[/name] [name]Zenobia[/name] and [name]Princess[/name] [name]Zenobia[/name]. [name]Just[/name] a gorgeous, truly unique name.
I love [name]Zenobia[/name]. It’s lush but not too over-the-top for me. I’m not a fan of [name]Delilah[/name]. Though I’m not a [name]Christian[/name], I can’t get past the Biblical story.
[name]Zenobia[/name] is cool, but its far too much name imo. It’d make an interesting middle name but is far too attention grabbing as a fn imo - I can see a wallflower struggling to pull it off. It would take an exuberant, confident, extrovert to wear it well imo.
I’m new on the forums here and due in 2 weeks. Not sure of the gender and while we are very excited about our boy names…we have struggled a little with our girl options.
Meeting the little one will help us decide which names to go with if it’s a girl.
I actually credit the name [name]Zenobia[/name] for beginning my love of names. In 6th grade, all the girls in my class were named either [name]Jessica[/name], [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name], [name]Crystal[/name], or [name]Brittany[/name]. A new girl started at my school and her name was [name]Zenobia[/name]. I remember being in awe of her name, I was so amazed at how striking a name could be and it started my passion for names. I love the nickname [name]Zen[/name] (pretty much the coolest nickname ever, [name]IMO[/name]) and how it is so ancient and historic, but still feels new and fresh. I personally would only use it as a middle name, only because I much prefer unisex names in the first name slot.
