Thoughts on Zita?

I really like the name, but do you think teasing is inevitable with Zit being the first three letters?

Maybe, I would look into variations to make sure that is the one, or put it in the middle spot.

I am friends/colleagues with one, she is a professional clown! She is also friends with another woman who shares the name as well – neither of them have experienced any teasing because of it. The first syllable isn’t pronounced like that word anyway (at least theirs aren’t). I think it’s a lovely name and that thought has literally never once crossed my mind since knowing her!

When I was in hospital, there was a lovely HCA called [name_f]Zita[/name_f]! She was so bubbly and kind so I have a good association with the name and I didn’t really think of Zits. Maybe [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] as an alternative spelling?

I never thought of the ā€œzitā€ association until someone pointed it out, because I pronounce it Zee-ta. I’ve read [name_f]Zita[/name_f] is also a Hungarian diminutive of [name_f]Felicita[/name_f], so maybe if you like [name_f]Felicita[/name_f] or [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], you could name her that and call her [name_f]Zita[/name_f] sometimes. Is that too confusing/off-the-wall?

It’s so sparky and punchy, I love it! I do see ā€œzitā€ a little, but I still really like the name and the sound is very different. The [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] spelling is pretty too, I’m never sure which I prefer. [name_f]Zita[/name_f] is fab! :black_heart:

I love the name, [name_f]Zita[/name_f] is fresh and Spunky and to be honest if I had that name and got called Zit, I’d own it. You should totally use [name_f]Zita[/name_f]

@liberty.mairead I love the idea of [name_f]Zita[/name_f] as a nickname! [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is one of my long time favorites and I never thought of the nn [name_f]Zita[/name_f] before

Yay, glad you like it! Same, I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], and I’ve thought [name_f]Zita[/name_f] could be a really cool nickname, if one that has to be explained frequently.

I think it’s really cool! Very sparkly and fun. :black_heart: :sparkles:

To be honest, I didn’t even see ā€˜zit’. It does remind me a little bit of the Zika virus in terms of sound, but not to the point where the name is unusable. A name I love of a similar sound is [name_f]Nika[/name_f] – perhaps you’ll like it too.

I honestly wouldn’t have thought of ā€œzitā€ until you pointed it out, maybe because my instinct is to pronounce it ZEE-tuh rather than ZIH-tuh? The only word it makes me think of is ziti, which is a very neutral association in my mind. I think [name_f]Zita[/name_f] is fun and spunky!

I know a [name_f]Zyta[/name_f], pronounced the same way. That would get rid of the ā€œzitā€ if that’s what’s holding you back. It’s a bright and upbeat sounding name, I like it!

I do not at all see the word Zit in [name_f]Zita[/name_f], the Z is capital and the pronounciation is different. I just dislike it because it reminds me of Zika.

I like it. But zit isn’t a word used here. [name_f]Zeta[/name_f] can avoid this.
