Thoughts on the name [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] for a girl? We want something unique that can work for a little girl and a professional woman and this seems like it might work . . .

I know a girl named [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] so it seems like a fine name to me. Its not my personal style, but I think it definitely meets the criteria you’re looking for.

[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] is all boy to me, but everyone has their own name preference. I would suggest using a more feminine middle to go with it.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Sutton[/name_u]. It’s too masculine for a girl in my opinion. I also can’t imagine it on a professional woman. Though I do live in Australia where names like that on females are not popular. I believe they are quite common in the US? Correct me if I’m wrong. If I’m right, however, then I think maybe [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] can work for you.

It’s a common surname in my area, so I just can’t see it as a fn especially not on a girl. I think of mutton too.

[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] is okay to me… but I prefer [name_u]Spencer[/name_u].

I dislike it for both sexes. These work great for a woman of any age:

[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]

It normally wouldn’t be my style, but I’m so used to it because of the actress [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_m]Foster[/name_m] (multiple [name_u]Tony[/name_u]-winner, starred on tv on Bunheads, has a new tv show this season), that I like it and think of it as feminine.

[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] feels very masculine to me. Personally I’m not a fan of it, or any other surnames on girls.

I actually originally thought [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] was only a girls name, because of [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_m]Foster[/name_m] but it doesn’t surprise me that it’s unisex. I personally would love to meet someone named [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], girl or boy.

I think [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] is a beautiful name. A similar option is [name_f]Saffron[/name_f].

I love the pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]. There’s an area near where I live called [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], and there’s a school that shares the name, so it feels like a place name to me.

It doesn’t have a nice sound; it’s very masculine and clunky. I don’t see how it can be considered “professional”. If I were asked for a “professional” name, I’d think
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f]

I think it works; may depend on your surname. I think [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] is in the same vain too.

It sounds really masculine to me, so I can’t really see it on a girl. But if it’s more common on girls in your area, I’d go for it. But I would pair it with a frilly middle name to balance it out.

I love [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] for a girl! It’s all girl to me as the only [name_u]Sutton[/name_u]'s I know are female. I know two [name_m]IRL[/name_m] little girls, the character [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_u]Mercer[/name_u] on The Lying Games and the actress [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_m]Foster[/name_m].

I think a combo like [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] would be something like what you’re aiming for.

I actually read a book with the main character, who is a girl, being [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] and it has grown on me as I read the book so yes, I do believe it could work.
