Thoughts on

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] being a little sister to [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]? What is a good nickname for [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] besides berny? Thank you for your help.

Honestly, for me, [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] has a totally different feel than [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] & Filicity have a fresh vintage feel, they are both strong but also pretty, light and fresh feeling. [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is stuffier and old lady sounding to me, but maybe that’s because I had an old great aunt with that name. For nn [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Bernice[/name_f]?

I think [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is completely different in terms of style in comparison to [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I find [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] very dusty and old, whereas I think [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are spunky, vintage, light and airy. I agree with all @maurab has said, and second [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] being an old lady name, whereas [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] you can find on anyone of any age. I know of an old woman called [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Bernie[/name_u], but I also think [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would work.

It totally works. Names don’t have to be so matchy. The only thing I wouldn’t do is have two daughters and give one a boy’s name and one a frilly girl’s name.

[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] was on our list but my DH has now vetoed it because he thinks it comes across as too religious.
It does feel very different to the other two though, nothing wrong with that obviously but it does. [name_f]Berenice[/name_f] or [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] might go better with the other two (I wanted Bérénice but it wasn’t even allowed on the long list)
[name_f]Bea[/name_f] as a nn?
Ette or [name_f]Etta[/name_f] ?
[name_f]Nadie[/name_f]?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] going of [name_f]Berenice[/name_f], [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] might fit better with the other two

Thank youfor your help it doesn’t really bother me that their names don’t match. I get what you are saying about how [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is more old lady then [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] but its been growing on me more and more.

[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is high on my list. I love it. I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] or [name_f]Bee[/name_f] as a nickname.

Its one of our tope girl names its pretty much fown to [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and my husband and i love both names.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I think it’s a great match!! Nameberry says it means “brave as a bear”, which is a pretty awesome meaning for a little girl; I love it! [name_f]Etta[/name_f] would be my favorite nickname; others include [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Bette[/name_f], [name_f]Nettie[/name_f], [name_f]Nadette[/name_f], [name_f]Berna[/name_f] or [name_u]Nat[/name_u]. You could call her “bear” which would be a nod to her name AND the meaning! Good luck!!!

Thank you i love the nicknames that you suggested they are all great. Also i thought that [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] all have the same old lady feel to them [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] just hasn’t been as dusted off as my daughter’s names which make it better in my opinion. Thank you for your opinion

I actually know sisters named [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]. I think it’s a great pairing. My cousin is named [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and her mom calls her Dettie. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and [name_f]Bea[/name_f]. Good luck!

[name_f]IMO[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] fits perfectly with [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I love it! I have a little cousin [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and we call her [name_f]Nettie[/name_f]. She’s a doll!!!

It seems much heavier than the sweet [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. Maybe use it as a middle name?

If we use it it will be as a first name. Thank you for your opinion
