We do not know the gender of baby #3. We have a daughter named [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]and a son named [name_m]Waylon[/name_m] am almost 32 weeks and DH and I are having a hard time agreeing on a few names to have when the baby is born. He likes more “southern” names while I am more “earthy” and different. We have finally agreed on a boy name. … but I’m nervous for peoples thoughts. Origin al spelling is Kawliga but I was considering Kelijah as I love [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] but too common and to help with pronunciation but ib don’t want to ruin the name either.[name_m]Gibson[/name_m] for a middle for my great grandpa.
Girl names… we are all over the place… he loves [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]… I like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Indigo[/name_f], [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]… etc… help?
I don’t like the boys names. You know that Kaw-Liga is a country song about a wooden [name_f]Indian[/name_f], right? And I’m not a fan of taking perfectly good names and adding letters to make them “youneek,” so Kelijah is not my cup of tea. And neither sounds at all like it should be in a sibset with [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_m]Waylon[/name_m]. Sorry If you like K names, specifically, what about something like [name_m]Kenji[/name_m], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_m]Keiran[/name_m], [name_m]Kenyon[/name_m], [name_m]Kaius[/name_m] or [name_m]Khalil[/name_m]? For something that sounds similar to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], but is not as popular, you could go with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] or [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. Or if you like the style of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], what about [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] or [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]?
I think your naming styles for girls sounds lovely. What about [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]? It’s similar to [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but more your style. Other options: [name_f]Twyla[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Keziah[/name_f], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], Harlowe, [name_f]Avalon[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] or [name_f]Carys[/name_f].
Yes Kaw-liga is a [name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] song. I know. we often get asked if our son was named after [name_m]Waylon[/name_m] [name_m]Jennings[/name_m]… my husband is big into country music and the south. I have fond memories of my grandpa (bluegrass musician) singing the song Kaw-liga too. We have strong musical and southern roots.
As for girls, I like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]. My name is [name_u]Shilo[/name_u] though so that may be influencing my thoughts I love being a [name_u]Shilo[/name_u].
I think [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] and [name_m]Waylon[/name_m] would make amazing brothers! A perfect set. A little country, a little rock and roll. Huge plus that it’s a family name. Makes me think of [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] guitars.
I agree with the PP that Kelijah feels like you’re trying too hard. If you love the song and the meaning, I don’t see a problem with using it as a middle, but it’s not a versatile first name and I feel like it really clashes with [name_m]Waylon[/name_m] and [name_u]Bailey[/name_u].
[name_m]Waylon[/name_m], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], and [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] Kawliga … honestly, I think that’s your best bet.
For your girls, [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] does seem to fit beautifully with [name_m]Waylon[/name_m] and [name_u]Bailey[/name_u].
And my first thought was [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]
or maybe…
[name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]
[name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
I agree with Kala_way. Kelijah doesn’t do anything for me, but I love that you want to use names that are meaningful to you. [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] Kaw-liga is way more attractive and usable [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. For a girl, [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] does seem like a good option that fits what you’re both looking for.
I hadn’t thought of reversing them. Not only is [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] a family name but my Grandpa plays a [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] guitar.
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] has been a name I’ve wanted to use since #1 but its not DHs favorite. It was actually the first name to pop into my head right after both of their births.
I tend to lean towards unisex names for girls.
Anotherv girl favorite of mine is [name_f]Stormy[/name_f] with a less unique middle. But our last name ends in -sail would that be bad? I feel like I’m missing a possible joke lol.
Does your DH like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think you can get him on board? Or does he tend to like more feminine names? Is there anything else he likes other than [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]?
What about something like [name_f]Selah[/name_f]? pronounced either see-luh or say-luh. Similar background to both [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], and has aspects of both.
There’s also another version of [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] - Shiloah. The name of a pool of “waters” in the Bible. Maybe that would be a good compromise?
I love the idea of [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] Kaw-Liga/Kawliga for a boy. [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] is great with [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_m]Waylon[/name_m], and Kawliga is the perfect middle name choice. Kawliga is certainly a conversation starter, but it’s meaningful and has that Southern twang your husband likes because of the [name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] song.
We are also now considering [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m], calling him [name_m]Boone[/name_m]. I personally really like it! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I don’t think [name_m]Boone[/name_m] is as uncommon as Kawliga…
I’m still pretty lost on girl names. I’d like to use the middle name [name_u]River[/name_u].Are there any unique/southern twang girl names I haven’t thought of?
