So I’ve shortened (although it doesn’t seem like it) my list of names for the three girls in the novel I am writing. It’s still a long list, but it’s a quarter of what it used to be. Pick your three favourites and explain why! If you’re up to it, then maybe describe the type of girl you see when you say the name? The names on the list will have the nicknames I’m considering listed on the right side of them.
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]: I love this, especially for a character. I picture a quite girl who can gets loud and slightly obnoxious when she’s in the right group.
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: This spelling has recently grown on me. Go-go is adorable. I picture [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] to be a wealthy, slightly egotistic girl who is secretly very artistic but doesn’t want anyone to know.
[name_f]Eponine[/name_f]: [name_f]Adelind[/name_f] would have been my number 3 but the nicknames [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lindie[/name_f] conflict too much. This style of name has been growing on me, and [name_f]Nina[/name_f] familiarized the name. [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] is a girl who isn’t as mature as she should be at that age yet she has a kind heart and loves history.
[name_f]Adelind[/name_f] - Because I love the nickname [name_f]Lindie[/name_f], and because [name_f]Adelind[/name_f] is beautiful unique name that is very vintage but definitely pretty. As for who I see with this name? Someone independent and against the flow maybe, because rather than be called ‘[name_f]Addy[/name_f]’, the name she chooses to go by is [name_f]Lindie[/name_f], which is unique on its own.
[name_f]Marizol[/name_f] - A little twist on the atypical ‘[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]’! [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a steady and genuine name that has been firmly built into our world, so I imagine this girl as someone strong and steady as well, coming from a strong and steady family. For some reason I visualize the opposite of the same old stereotype of the spicy sassy Latina to a firm, book-wormy home-body with strong values.
[name_f]Eponine[/name_f] - Partly because I suggested it but also mostly just because I love the name. So different and elegant and ephemeral. My imagination conjures up various different girls for this name, the first being the kind of floaty, dreamy [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Lovegood-esqe type who seems like an absolute airhead while actually being intelligent. Next I imagine the opposite of this name, just for the sake of it, a girl with mermaid turquoise ombre hair and a septum piercing with a lion tattoo and a terrible attitude; blasts rock or rap music all hours of the day and night. Lastly I imagine a shy girl from a rich a strict family, someone who wants to break away from home life but just hasn’t found her confidence yet.
Thanks! I haven’t had much luck with replies to posts lately… For some reason my threads aren’t showing up in my “started threads” section on my profile. I’ve decided on Margaux, Adelind and Eponine as my three girls. Thanks again!
[name_f]Adelind[/name_f]- I have never heard of this name before but it is quite lovely! I love that it is different than the up and coming [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]! Plus the nickname [name_f]Lindie[/name_f] is so adorable and I love it so much! This one I imagine the girl has long black hair and it always smiling!
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]- I love, love, love this spelling! I think it screams [name_m]French[/name_m]. I saw that we could describe the type of girl with the name and I see a little blonde girl with wavy hair and beautiful blue eyes! Very beautiful name! Plus go-go is so cute!
[name_f]Sigourney[/name_f]- This is kind of a guilty pleasure name for me! Plus, now every time I hear this name I think of the movie Finding [name_u]Dory[/name_u] and it makes me smile! I saw that you had the nickname [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] with a question mark and I think that it works just fine! This one I picture a little redhead, with beautiful curly hair!
Thank you all! I’ve decided on [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], [name_f]Adelind[/name_f] and [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] as my main characters. [name_f]Sigourney[/name_f], [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] and [name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] will be side characters, and the res may perhaps make their way into the story.
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]: I love because of the vintage, Victorian, botanical feel it gives. It has a lovely sound, and it reminds me of the [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] character. Possibly because of that I’d imagine a feisty, playful girl running about having fun and making mischief. Never afraid to ask questions and demand answers.
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]: First off, this is my favourite spelling. Secondly, I just love the sound and energy of [name_f]Margaux[/name_f]. I watched a show with a character called [name_f]Margot[/name_f], set in the 50s, and I really started to fall in love with the name from then. Again, character influenced, I think [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] would be stylish and fashionable, like a 50/60s film star. I’d imagine her in big hats, sunglasses, and summer dresses, well spoken and witty.
[name_f]Adelind[/name_f]: I really like this, because it’s different, unusual, and it stands out. I love the sound, a little clunky, but sweet and beautiful. To me [name_f]Adelind[/name_f] is dainty, quiet, and gentle. She’d love dancing and singing, and always be smiling and happy. I can imagine her being helpful, and caring, picking flowers and giving them to everyone, to help cheer them up and make them smile. This is making me want to consider [name_f]Adelind[/name_f] again!
I like [name_f]Eponine[/name_f], and [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] too. Whoops! [name_m]Just[/name_m] saw your post, yay! Very cool character names :).
