So my MC’s name is [name_u]Freedom[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Parkman[/name_m]. She has an older brother named “[name_u]Shawn[/name_u]” and two younger sisters named “[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]” and “[name_f]Angelica[/name_f]”. Her best friend’s name is [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (pronounced mayv) [name_u]James[/name_u]. Her parents’ names are [name_f]Irina[/name_f] and [name_m]Jared[/name_m]. [name_u]Freedom[/name_u]'s powers are electricity. I was thinking “[name_m]Asher[/name_m]”, “[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]”, “[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]”, “[name_m]Henry[/name_m]”, “[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]”, “[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]”, and “[name_f]Whisper[/name_f]”. Thoughts on these names and do you have any suggestions? The setting is like a modern [name_u]America[/name_u] (but it is called Blackspring) and her home country is more wild (called Wolfborne) Thank you so much
My only complaint is that [name_u]Freedom[/name_u] sounds way more out there than her siblings’ names. It’s kind of obvious that she’s the MC because her name is so different from everyone else’s around her— that’s not always a good thing.
If you’re going to a modern day American-esque setting, then the rest of the names sound okay (except [name_f]Whisper[/name_f]?).
When you’re creating your own world, then you might want to hammer down naming conventions to get a more cohesive style for all your characters.
I second that [name_u]Freedom[/name_u] stands out, and I think it’s weird how [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] almost rhymes.
All other Names seem fine to me. I especially like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_m]Asher[/name_m] and [name_m]Jared[/name_m].
Thank you guys so much!!!
I changed [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]'s last name to Ravera. I changed [name_u]Shawn[/name_u]'s name to [name_f]Mercy[/name_f]. I changed [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]'s name to [name_u]Peace[/name_u]. I changed [name_f]Angelica[/name_f]'s name to [name_f]Promise[/name_f]. Is this better??
I think that by changing the family’s names, you make them fit the modern day [name_u]America[/name_u] setting. Thumbs up, and good luck on your writing!
