I absolutely love the name/nn [name_m]Wills[/name_m] for a baby girl but I don’t know I feel about just using [name_m]Wills[/name_m] as a full first name opposed to it being a nn for a longer more feminine full name
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]So[/name_m] would [name_m]Wills[/name_m] work as a nn for [name_f]Abilene[/name_f], I know it’s a bit of a stretch but my thought process is [name_f]Abilene[/name_f] → [name_f]Billie[/name_f] → [name_m]Willie[/name_m] → [name_m]Wills[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Kinda[/name_f] like how [name_m]Billy[/name_m] is a nn for [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]I also like the name/nn [name_m]Willa[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]So[/name_m] which option is best [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Just[/name_m] using [name_m]Wills[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]Using [name_m]Willa[/name_m] and doing [name_m]Wills[/name_m] as a nn [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Abilene[/name_f] with the nn [name_m]Wills[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]I’m also open to other suggestions
[name_m]Wills[/name_m] is really cute, and I totally get the appeal [name_f][/name_f]- it has that spunky, slightly unexpected vibe
[name_f][/name_f]
Out of your options, I think [name_m]Willa[/name_m] with nn [name_m]Wills[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f] is the strongest. [name_m]Willa[/name_m] is familiar, feminine, and timeless, and [name_m]Wills[/name_m] feels like a natural, playful extension of it. It gives you a solid full name with a nickname that still feels connected.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Abilene[/name_f] is so cute but it might be a bit too much of a stretch for the nickname [name_m]Wills[/name_m], especially considering its much more likely to get the nickname [name_f]Abi[/name_f]. If you love [name_f]Abilene[/name_f] for its own sake, great, but I wouldn’t choose it just to get to [name_m]Wills[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
Some other names that could naturally lead to [name_m]Wills[/name_m] as a nickname: [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Willowdean[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Wilhelmina[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]Willowen [name_f][/name_f]Willen [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Willis[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Wilma[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Wilda[/name_m]
Yep agree with previous posters. [name_f]Abilene[/name_f] → [name_m]Wills[/name_m] makes sense on paper[name_f][/name_f] but it’s far more likely to get [name_f]Abi[/name_f], [name_m]Billy[/name_m], or [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and I think [name_m]Wills[/name_m] would require frequent explanation.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] nn [name_m]Wills[/name_m] is my favourite and seems the most natural! Could you do [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Abilene[/name_f], even?
I think [name_f]Willa[/name_f] ‘Wills’ makes the most sense [name_f][/name_f]- it takes less explanation and is more likely to stick.
[name_f][/name_f]
As much as I love [name_f]Abilene[/name_f], [name_f]Billie[/name_f] is already a less obviously nickname choice, with Abi/Abby being the ‘go to’ and [name_f]Lena[/name_f] also likely, so [name_f]Billie[/name_f] → [name_m]Willie[/name_m] → [name_m]Wills[/name_m] is lots of steps.
[name_f][/name_f]
I’ll second the suggestion of [name_f]Winslow[/name_f]!
[name_m]Wills[/name_m] does not work as a nickname for [name_f]Abilene[/name_f] to me, but I love the option [name_f]Willa[/name_f] nn [name_m]Wills[/name_m]
I like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] or [name_f]Willow[/name_f] nn [name_m]Wills[/name_m]. I don’t think [name_f]Abilene[/name_f] works well for that nickname, but [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Abilene[/name_f] would be darling!
