We’re expecting in [name_f]May[/name_f]. I’m struggling to pick her name, keep flitting between options! Right now we love three - [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f]/[name_f]Callie[/name_f] ([name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be the middle name to both the other two and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] would probably be the middle for [name_f]Rose[/name_f]). I like them all for different reasons but I can’t rationalise which one is best. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is classic, underused as a first name and the whole family love it, [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is beautiful (literally) and gives me butterflies and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is my favourite name from childhood and I feel like I might regret not picking it for her. I have a real dilemma!
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] seems the one you’re most excited about right now but [name_f]Luna[/name_f] has it’s strong appeals too… If it was me, I think I’d go with [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
I’d go with [name_f]Luna[/name_f] as you said you might regret not choosing it. However, if you’re only choosing [name_f]Luna[/name_f] because you might regret not using it, then you should go with [name_f]Calla[/name_f].
My vote would go for [name_f]Rose[/name_f], or if not, [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! Not a huge Pun a fan personally, but really love both [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Calla[/name_f]
I am reading into your post that you are most excited about [name_f]Calla[/name_f] so it is probably “the one”! I agree that you should also use [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but they both have the same ending and if that bothers you, the variation of [name_f]Lune[/name_f] is gorgeous. I love [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lune[/name_f]!
I vote [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sounds like you like it because it’s the crowd pleaser. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] you love. You’re heading over heels for it. And that’s great. When I feel strongly for a name like that though, I find after a few months I still think it’s beautiful but the butterflies are gone, the magic doesn’t last. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] though you’ve loved for years.
My daughter has a name I’ve loved since childhood. It felt amazing to give her a name that I’ve carried in my heart so long. She’s 5 and I still smile when I say or see her name.
Thanks so much everyone. I can see a lot of mixed opinions but it really helps me put the names in perspective. I’m still a little uncertain, I’ve loved [name_f]Luna[/name_f] the longest and the most so it feels like it could be the one but the fact alone that the other two are still on the table this far into the pregnancy makes me doubt myself. She’s my first so I want to get it right, it’s a lot of responsibility naming another person!
Seeing people pick favorites though does make me see which names I’m most ‘defensive’ over which is great. Appreciate any more comments you have!
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be my pick but it does seem as if you’re more excited by the other two… Of the other two I would pick [name_f]Luna[/name_f], although [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is pretty too. You can’t really go wrong! I know what you mean though about wanting to get it right, I’m about to have my first and of course don’t know if I’ll ever have another girl so I really want to get it right!
