We have 3 weeks before we get to meet our little girl and we have finally narrowed it down to two names. I know they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and I’m okay with that, but my hubby and I love them both and I would love some opinions on which gets a better response from people. Thank you so much for your help.
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (I love that I have absolutely no associations with this name)
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (I’m too young to be affected by [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] O’[name_u]Neil[/name_u], I like tater tots, and while naming my daughter after [name_u]Channing[/name_u] [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] isn’t something I would ever do, he does at least bring a nice image into my head ;-))
i despise any name with [name_u]Tate[/name_u] in it. I mean it’s so close to taint…its just not a good look for a girl…or anyone…I prefer [name_u]Channing[/name_u] for a girl before [name_u]Tatum[/name_u]…
So I would have to go with [name_u]Larkin[/name_u]…I love [name_f]Lark[/name_f] for short and it’s super cute.
I vote for [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] too, but I feel like [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] has a better flow.
I’m fine with both. I like [name_f]Lark[/name_f] more than [name_u]Larkin[/name_u], but [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] is nice, too. I find [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] to be a little sturdier, which I like, but I just don’t like the possible [name_u]Tate[/name_u] nickname for a girl (or a boy, really). Tater Tot is not terrible - tater tots are actually pretty delicious and I’m now wanting a food I haven’t had since college…
So, let me think about flow. [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. I think I find [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] to be just slightly more appealing in terms of melody and sound. I’d say them aloud with the last name and see which one sounds better. I would do it myself and tell you, but I don’t know last name.
Thank you all for your feedback. There seems to be pretty split opinions so at least I know one name is not hideously worse than the other. I don’t like [name_u]Tate[/name_u] as a nickname either but I’m not a nickname user anyhow. I go by my full name and I always call my husband by his full name even though he has a very common name with nickname. I know others might call her [name_u]Tate[/name_u], but I never would. I do however, think [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is a pretty nickname but again, not sure if I would actually use it. Thanks again!
I like [name_u]Tatum[/name_u]. It’s light and spunky and I personally [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Tate[/name_u] for a nn for a girl.
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] is neutral to me, however, it’s harsh in my mouth when I say it. I don’t like the meaning of ‘on a lark’ plus rhymes with other not overly pleasant words like bark, stark, narc, park, dark…
