Sunset Ashdown - I think this is very pretty, although with your last name containing “down” I get kind of a sad vibe from it, also makes me kind of think of sundowner’s syndrome which is a feature of Alzheimers :/. It is pretty though. [name]Sunny[/name] seems the obvious nn although [name]Ettie[/name] and [name]Susie[/name] are plausible. [name]Do[/name] you like those? Or are you looking to avoid nns? If you’re going to go this far out there, I’d almost recommend you consider Sunrise.
[name]Ember[/name] Ashdown - I kind of like this, but I worry everyone would hear it as [name]Amber[/name]. Nn could be [name]Emmy[/name].
[name]Maude[/name] Ashdown - I kind of like this, and kind of find it fusty old lady. An option.
[name]Merle[/name] Ashdown - this is very old lady OR even old man to me. It used to be very popular as a man’s name, I think. I’d prefer [name]Pearl[/name]. I can’t really endorse it. [name]Marlo[/name]?
[name]Echo[/name] Ashdown - pretty sound, but the story of [name]Echo[/name] is sad. And like, if she ever went through that kiddie phase of repeating others…it’s too much for me. Also makes me think of Ecco shoes.
[name]Prue[/name] Ashdown - I like this pretty well! It just feels a little incomplete? [name]Prudence[/name] nn [name]Prue[/name]? Also close to [name]Prune[/name] which I don’t love. But an option
[name]Mavis[/name] Ashdown - This is not exactly my style but I really can’t critique it. It could grow on me. A real option.
[name]Topaz[/name] Ashdown - OK, I love the idea of [name]Topaz[/name], but in reality I think it might be so exotic that it starts to be too much. Like kind of a “bad girl” name. I do love the sound though.
[name]Myrtle[/name] Ashdown - waaay too old lady for me, and for most, I’m afraid. I still like it better than [name]Merle[/name]. But your boys names don’t strike me as at all old fashioned, so, this just seems really out. [name]Mavis[/name] and [name]Maude[/name] hit some similar notes but work a lot better.
I’d keep [name]Maude[/name], [name]Prue[/name], and [name]Mavis[/name]. I’m not sure about [name]Ember[/name] and Sunset. I’d let [name]Merle[/name], [name]Myrtle[/name], [name]Echo[/name], and [name]Topaz[/name] go (at least as first names).
Your love for [name]Topaz[/name] together with [name]Merle[/name] and [name]Myrtle[/name] makes me think of [name]Opal[/name] - it has some sounds from all of those names and is a jewel like [name]Topaz[/name]. Or even [name]Jewel[/name] kind of fits. What do you think?
Good luck!
