Hello, what do you all think of the boy name “[name_m]Till[/name_m]”?
Most importantly would you know that [name_m]Till[/name_m] is a name? Or would you just think of the word?
[name_f]Thankful[/name_f] for any opinions!

I think it sounds like the word “til” like dusk til dawn for instance
I’m not sure, I think it’s a little strange but there’s something appealing about it too
I’m from a small farming town, so my first thought is something along the lines of ‘tilling the soil.’ My second thought would be of the female nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]…so it isn’t a stretch for me to think of it as a name, either. I don’t find these associations particularly negative, though, and I don’t see anything objectively wrong about using the name.
It sounds too much like the word to me. Plus, if I saw it I would assume it was a nickname of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] or [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]
I would question it as some sort of typo on a classroom roster but if I heard it out on the playground first, I’d be like ‘oh. [name_m]Will[/name_m] but with a T. That’s cool.’ It’s familiar sounding enough
What about as a nickname for [name_m]Tillman[/name_m]?
I don’t really like [name_m]Tillman[/name_m], it just sounds too old-fashioned for me
I knew a [name_m]Tillman[/name_m] growing up, so [name_m]Till[/name_m] feels familiar to me.
No. I don’t like it. It’s a word with meanings that aren’t interesting and farming equipment.
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Till[/name_m] was my first thought. Terrible story. Then the gardening tool, then how many times the kid would have to say: “Not [name_m]Will[/name_m], [name_m]Till[/name_m], like the gardening tool.” I do absolutely see the appeal, though. [name_m]Till[/name_m] is a handsome passerby nickname, and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] for a girl is adorable. Tillian is the only name I can think of that might work for you. Although, again, there would a lot of: “it’s [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Gillian[/name_f]/[name_m]Killian[/name_m] with a T.”
I think it’s a word rather than a name.
I think it’s fine. I knew a [name_m]Til[/name_m] from Germany, never thought about his name being unusual, but he was foreign. It makes me think of cash registers for a second, but the sound itself is pleasant and simple in a good way.
it’s not a name.
Definitely think of the word. Maybe you would like [name_m]Tilden[/name_m]?
I also think too much of [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Till[/name_m]. I don’t know where you live, but if it’s brought up in history class, it may or may not get awkward, depending on how you raise him. I think you’d get away with it as a nickname, though.
I checked out some boy names starting with til and here’s some in case anyone’s wondering:
[name_m]Tilden[/name_m]
Tilford
Tilmann
Tilton
Tilon
I don’t think I’d recognize it as a name.
