Tilly or Tillie?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m].
My daughter is named [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. We have considered the NN’s [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly/name_f and we have now decided that [name_f]Tilly/name_f suits her perfectly!
First, is it a nice nickname?
Secondly, do you prefer [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] or [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] as a spelling? I like both of them.
Thanks!

It’s a super cute nickname. I prefer [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] - it just strikes me as more solid and confident, somehow. It also helps to break up instead of extending the repetition of i and l which look quite similar on the page!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. Prefer the Y ending that IE. Its gorgeous!!!

I love [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], preferring this spelling.

My name is [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and I would highly recommend going with the [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] spelling as opposed to [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]. Not only does [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] look more fluent, strong and natural than [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], she will get the [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] spelling from other people 100% of the time. If she decides to go by [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], people will automatically spell it with a -y. I have never ever had someone spell my name with -ie. She’ll become ‘[name_f]Tillie[/name_f] with ie’ when she introduces herself, because people will consistently gravitate towards the -y spelling unless she states otherwise. That’s an annoying burden for a child.

[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is a great nickname and name. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] will love it… Take it from me

[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] spelling is better [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I think it’s a fine nn. Much better than [name_u]Matty[/name_u] or [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]. I prefer the [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] spelling for some reason.

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (go figure  ) [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] with a -y looks less cutesy [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is the best spelling; however, I tend to like [name_f]Tilli[/name_f] even better.

I vote for [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] because I think Y is the most feminine letter in the alphabet.

In my family we use “y” ending for girls’ nn and “ie” ending for a boy’s nn… generally.

[name_f]Tilly[/name_f], spelled this way, is super cute for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]'s nickname! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

I prefer [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]!

I absolutely love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]! I generally prefer the -ie nicknames, but always preferred [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] spelled with a -y for some reason.

My daughter is called [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and we spell it this way. When ever I say her name this is how people spell it on her birthday cards etc

It’s a great nickname! I much prefer the [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] spelling.

I love [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and have it on my own list.
