I love a lot of male B names, but many have never been big in the US. Bjorn, Bramwell, Balthazar, Bartholomew, and Barnaby (Barnaby not in the Top 1000 from 1900 on!).
Some that were big and aren’t now that I like: Bob, Bruno, and Benji. Sure, they’d make great dogs, but I like them as guy names too. I wouldn’t name a son Benji, but I think it’s a darling nickname. I think of that cute little neighbor who’s always smearing his face with a chocolate bar on the old Leave it to Beaver TV show. Sweet little Benji!
Additions? Thoughts?
PS And why don’t boy’s names get more love?

[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]! One of my absolute favorites. So stuffy and warm and charming. I adore it. Plus, it’s got [name_m]Ned[/name_m] as a nickname, which I think is just so great.
Oh! Forgot [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]. If Cumberbatch can’t resurrect that name, no one can. And I never thought of [name_m]Ned[/name_m] as its nn. Cool! As is your phrase “so stuffy and warm and charming”!

Oh, adore this. He certainly gives a kindly face to the name. I don’t know much about him to be honest, but all I’ve ever seen him do I love! Cool people make cool names ever cooler, and I love it.
This really made me smile to read.
In my opinion, most of the greatest names fit this little description.

I liked [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] better before Mr Cumberotter, but that’s just me.
[name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] has always been on my list but you never hear it in the US. [name_m]Bede[/name_m], Bevil, [name_m]Brann[/name_m], [name_u]Bryn[/name_u], are good names but I don’t think have been much on the radar here (except maybe as a girl’s name in the US but it’s a guy’s name in Wales).
[name_m]Bertram[/name_m] is one of my favorites, with [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] as a nn. [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], [name_u]Basil[/name_u], [name_m]Bertil[/name_m], [name_m]Boniface[/name_m] are some good saints’ names to revive.
I like [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] too. Makes me think of the great [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Tey[/name_f] novel, Brat [name_m]Farrar[/name_m].

Have you read the series of mysteries in which [name_f]Tey[/name_f] is the protagonist? They’re fun.
(I wish she hadn’t been such a virulent antisemite, though.) But I love that the [name_u]Duke[/name_u] of Gloucester is [name_m]Richard[/name_m] because of Daughter of Time.

Another [name_f]Tey[/name_f] fan! Anti-semitism seems present in so many of that day. Not good.
I did read a number of the Upson books until I felt she became a bit rabid about sexuality.
And the one [name_f]Tey[/name_f] I haven’t read is Daughter of Time!

Completely agree about [name_m]Benji[/name_m] such a sweet name!
I also have such a fab moment for [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m]. [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m] is absolutely gorgeous such a handsome name that I keep continuously suggesting! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m]. I also think [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] is super fun.
Another one I’m going suggest is [name_u]Basil[/name_u] I think [name_u]Basil[/name_u] is cool and deserves a moment in the sun.

Yes, I forgot [name_u]Basil[/name_u]. It’s lovely though I do think of [name_u]Basil[/name_u] Fawlty a bit!
I love [name_m]Benji[/name_m]!
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m] and [name_u]Billy[/name_u] are two I’d like to see come back! Admittedly I’m not sure [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] was ever that popular, but it has a great old-fashioned strength to it. And most [name_m]Williams[/name_m] I meet are either [name_u]William[/name_u] in full, or [name_u]Will[/name_u] or [name_u]Liam[/name_u] – all of which I like, but [name_u]Billy[/name_u] is so sweet! [name_u]Billy[/name_u] is very much “sweet midcentury boy playing catch with his dad” to me, which I love

I’ve had a crush on [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] for as long as I can remember (not a big fan of nn [name_m]Bart[/name_m], but I don’t think it’s inevitable either)!
Also [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m] nn [name_m]Bram[/name_m] or [name_m]Wells[/name_m] is swoonworthy
