I have just one name to revive: Octavia. To me, this is as beautiful (or more beautiful) than Alexandra, Isabella, and other popular names and yet I have never met one and see it on nameberry seldom.
What is weird is that the sites I looked at showed it being popular in the 1800’s, rising a lot a few years ago, then plunging down to nothingness. Does this mean there’s a lovely batch of Octavias coming our way in a few years or was the website mistaken?
The only other O name I thought of was Opal, but it seems to be coming along well on its own.
I love [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], and I’ve taught two students with that name – it’s a generational name in the [name_m]Black[/name_m] community where I live, along with names like [name_f]Keziah[/name_f], Lecomas, and [name_m]Kyron[/name_m].
Suggestions: [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Oonagh[/name_f], [name_f]Olwen[/name_f], and [name_f]Odette[/name_f].
I use the social security website for popularity! It only ranks for the US, though.
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] was #335 as of 2020. This is also, coincidentally, the year it was most popular since 1900, which is as far back as their search system lets me go lol.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] is actually less popular in the US, at #659 as of 2020, her highest ranking being #81 in 1911.
