Timothea? Jacoba? Samuelle?

So, I was playing around on Nameberry when I had a thought: If [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Michael[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], and other biblical boy names had feminine versions, why not [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], and other classic bible names? I unearthed a couple mention in the title, but can you think of any more? And what do you think of these? Nameberry mostly says they are old names not worth bringing back, but I kind of like them.

They’re interesting, but I wouldn’t use them. [name]Samuela[/name] and [name]Samantha[/name] are also female variants of [name]Samuel[/name].

Here are some more:
[name]Jamesina[/name] ([name]James[/name])
[name]Davina[/name] ([name]David[/name])
[name]Thomasina[/name] ([name]Thomas[/name])
[name]Tamsin[/name] ([name]Thomas[/name])

[name]Samuelle[/name] is rather lovely, some more suggestions:

[name]Davina[/name]
[name]Emanuelle[/name]
[name]Thomasina[/name]
[name]Samuela[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Ianna[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Roberta[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Michaela[/name]
[name]Rafaela[/name]/ [name]Raphaela[/name]

This is a rather interesting topic. I like [name]Benjamina[/name], [name]Adamina[/name], and [name]Ivana[/name] as well. I have heard [name]Ivana[/name] spelled [name]Ivanna[/name] and pronounced eye [name]VAN[/name] uh.

Feminized male names are the farthest thing from my style. Thus, there’s a chance the ones I hate the most
[name]Josepha[/name]
[name]Adama[/name]
are the ones you’ll like.

I’ve always liked [name]Jacoba[/name] actually.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve always thought [name]Jacobina[/name] was the feminine form of [name]Jacob[/name]…

I really love [name]Timothea[/name]; and [name]Samuelle[/name] has a very delicate ending, which I like immensely. I love [name]Wilhelmina[/name] and [name]Wilhelmine[/name]; and [name]Henrietta[/name] and [name]Thomasina[/name] have ALWAYS been some of my favorites!
I like the old-fashioned beauty to them. They’re very soft yet manage to have a classic strength to them as well. [name]Timothea[/name] and [name]Thomasina[/name] are some of my favorites, but like I said I also love [name]Wilhelmina[/name]/[name]Wilhelmine[/name] and [name]Henrietta[/name].

[name]Adamina[/name] is so lovely and romantic! Nameberry says its awful, but I really like it. I’m liking the idea of [name]Adamina[/name] [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] nn [name]Amy[/name]. Thanks for suggesting it!

[name]Frederique[/name] - I find it spunky!
