To Hannah or to not Hannah?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!

I hope you’re all having a lovely [name_f]November[/name_f] so far. One of the most important recurring names in my life is [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - 4 of my nearest and dearest in this world are called [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - I suppose it’s a very common name where I live.

I think it’s a gorgeous name. I love that it is a palindrome, and I think the meaning of “grace” is pretty cute since [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is my middle name.

Would it be a bit silly for me to add another [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] into my inner circle? One of the Hannahs is actually my stepsister as well - we aren’t very close, so I think people might assume it was an honour name.

If [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is a NO - what other suggestions do you have that could nod to [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]?

Thanks!

I would probably avoid [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and use something like :

[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Leanna[/name_f]

[name_m]Or[/name_m] another palindrome name
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]

If it doesn’t bother you, I say go for it! [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is a lovely name and you can never really have too many of them. Alternatives just in case…

You could just use [name_f]Grace[/name_f], or a name that means “grace”: [name_f]Anna[/name_f] / [name_f]Annika[/name_f] / [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] (or other [name_f]Ann[/name_f]- variants), [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Carissa[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] (or other names that end in -ana), [name_f]Doveva[/name_f], [name_f]Milena[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] / [name_f]Jean[/name_f] / [name_f]Joan[/name_f], [name_f]Gianna[/name_f],

Other versions/spellings of [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]: [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f], [name_f]Hana[/name_f], [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_f]Havana[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] / [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]

Other similar names that came to mind: [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Hestia[/name_f], [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is cute — [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] could also be a middle name, but not exactly sure what to pair with it on the top of my head. It might be a lot in an inner circle, but I don’t think it would be the worse thing. There are so many what if and hypotheticals.

Maybe you could make the name longer and do
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
Johanna(h)
Hannalore
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f]

Some other names
[name_f]Amanda[/name_f]
[name_f]Alivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
Amarantha/ [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Eevee[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]

With so many Hannahs in your close circle - and a stepsister who you aren’t honouring - I’d probably keep it as a middle or use an alternative.

Ideas to honour a [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]:

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f]
[name_f]Haniya[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
Hanania
Hansigne
[name_f]Halina[/name_f]
[name_f]Anina[/name_f]

[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is a lovely name! If you’re not using [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] as an honor name for one or more of the Hannahs in your life, it might be a bit strange, but it wouldn’t be overly weird at all! I also love that [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is your middle name so it could be an honor name for you too!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
Susannah/Susanna
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
Annabelle/Annabel
Johanna/Joanna
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]

I think you could use it if you and the Hannahs don’t see a problem with it! You could always use it as a middle name, if you want to avoid any confusion.

I would go with [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] and maybe call her [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Lore[/name_f]. I think another [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is too much IMO.

I love [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] too! It’s a very special honor name for me, and even though she was recently so popular, she feels really fresh for me. I would love to know a baby [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]!

Personally, due to the number of Hannah’s in your life, I would use her as a middle… but if she feels right as a first name, that’s lovely too! Only you know your heart, but I would recommend using [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] on your list in some capacity, anyway!

Good luck!

I have the same situation with Anna! It’s an extremely popular name in the area, and it’s the name of VERY many people in my circle, including people close to me who I’d like to honor. Therefore, my frontrunner is Susannah! It’s gentle, it’s beautiful, it has Anna in it, and it means Lily: Lilia is a name I really like but can’t use. The same principle could work with Hannah. But in general, I think that if you really like a name, you should use it, regardless of its popularity.

I have a [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] who is very important in my life and as a way to possibly honour her I would want to use her name or one similar to it as a middle name

Some names I have saved on my list to honour her

[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_m]Callahan[/name_m]
Hanalaia
Hanalia
[name_f]Hania[/name_f]
[name_f]Haniya[/name_f]
[name_f]Hanneli[/name_f]

I also like Halleli though I think it’s more of a stretch to honour [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] with

If you have 4 Hannah’s in your life + your step sister (as I’m assuming she’s not included in the 4 since you said you aren’t as close) that’s a lot of Hannahs to add another one to the group

At the end of the day if you love it use it! The sentiment will come across whether it’s a first name, middle name or you use [name_f]Grace[/name_f] instead

Also I’ve heard stories of multiple people in a family with the same name. Some will be called names like “Big Sam” “Little Sam” to differentiate and know who you were talking to. Would you want your daughter to be a little [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]? Would your step sister like to be called big [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], or possibly another nickname? That’s about the only thing I will say you should definitely think about before using, as I know some people who are like my example “Big Sam” and they hate being called big

It might not be big! It might be another sort of nickname but I think it’s something to consider!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!!

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], I find it timeless and so so pretty! However, I do think that if there are already a couple Hannah’s in your inner circle, you might want to look at some other names.
