I really don’t like [name]Ginger[/name] or [name]Virginia[/name], but I would like a creative way to honor my [name]MIL[/name]. Any thoughts?
[name]Virginia[/name], the state, was named after [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] I, so [name]Elizabeth[/name] could be an interesting choice. Also, other geographical names live [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Cheyenne[/name], [name]Savannah[/name], etc. Have you thought about using the same initials or her middle name? That could open up your options a bit more, as well.
What about [name]Ginny[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name], [name]Vera[/name], [name]Gina[/name], or [name]Irina[/name]?
You don’t say if you’re looking for boy or girl suggestions, so I came up with some of both.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] is an neat suggestion. If you don’t mind just pulling sounds, you might find [name]Ginevra[/name], [name]Ginnifer[/name], [name]Verena[/name], or even [name]Genevieve[/name] work. You might also be able to swing [name]Regina[/name] (the queen thing plus “gin”). You could focus on an aspect of the state, too, like [name]Bay[/name] (as in Chesapeake), [name]Blue[/name] or [name]Ridge[/name] (for the mountains), plenty of river names like [name]James[/name] (which [name]John[/name] [name]Smith[/name] sailed up) or [name]Maury[/name], etc. There are also several Virginian cities that are first names: [name]Alexandria[/name], [name]William/name, [name]Harrison/name, [name]Frederick/name, [name]Charlotte/name, etc. Since [name]Virginia[/name] is the Old Dominion State, you might consider [name]Dominic[/name]. In the state flag, the woman standing over the fallen tyrant is [name]Virtue[/name], so maybe a virtue name could be stretched to honor her. Finally [name]Virginia[/name] has had plenty of famous historical figures, so you could pull from [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Henry[/name], [name]John[/name] [name]Smith[/name], eight presidents’ worth of names as well as cultural figures like [name]Patsy[/name] Cline, [name]June[/name] [name]Carter[/name] [name]Cash[/name], and so on. But maybe some of those options are a little too tenuous…
