Still working on our boy list! We have good options but haven’t (both) quite fallen in love with one yet.
Thaddeus was near the top of our shortlist last pregnancy. We decided on Tobias instead; I had loved it longer, my husband liked it too, and it has a great and undisputed meaning.
I hadn’t brought Thaddeus up this time because, at least in my mind, it’s quite similar to Tobias. I thought it might seem more usable with a sibling or two in between.
But I mentioned it last night, and we both thought it deserves consideration. If we both still love it, is it actually a big deal? Does oldest brother Ransom seem like the odd man out?
Similar, yes, but usable imo
I hope you’re going to call them Toby and Tad because that’s adorable.
Edited to add that Ransom does stick out a little but I wouldn’t say they’re mismatched.
Hmm… Looking at the two names side by side, my instinct was yes, too similar. The T beginning, three syllables, N ending, Biblical.
But saying them aloud, the sounds are actually quite different. I think it’s doable if it’s The One, but I’d probably try to find something a little more distinct. [name_m]Phinneas[/name_m] or [name_m]Zaccheus[/name_m], maybe?
I do love [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u], though! Such a strong and handsome name.
I think [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] are different enough
@Loislyn oh goodness, that is adorable. We don’t really call him [name_u]Toby[/name_u] at home, but all the aunts and uncles use it. So I’d just need to sell them on [name_m]Tad[/name_m]
@katinka my thoughts almost exactly. I see them together and it looks like too much. [name_m]Say[/name_m] them aloud and they really aren’t THAT similar…
I do like [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], and [name_m]Zaccheus[/name_m]; we keep tossing around Biblical names containing Z. If we could decide between [name_m]Zebadiah[/name_m] and [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] we’d probably use that. [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] is on the shortlist but my husband isn’t sold.
Zebedee! I love it
How about [name_m]Eleazar[/name_m], [name_m]Eliezer[/name_m], [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] or even [name_m]Barzillai[/name_m], if you like the Z sound? [name_u]Or[/name_u] in a slightly different vein… [name_m]Naphtali[/name_m]? One of my favourite underrated Biblical names, and would be lovely with your boys.
I find them quite similar sorry
I think you mentioned you didn’t mind [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m]? I think [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m] and [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] could work better. The variables in the names are different then.
It’s too late, I already have a [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
We’ve been struggling quite a bit with a potential brother name for [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m].
I really love [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] sorry I thought you were debating between the two in pregnancy currently. [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is great and love the NN [name_u]Toby[/name_u].
Thanks! His aunts and uncles all call him [name_u]Toby[/name_u], and it’s so cute.
I’m pregnant with #3, we don’t know the gender, and we were both fine with not finding out till we started having such a hard time with our boy list We have a girl name picked. It’s a tempting thought to go in for an anatomy scan just to see whether we can relax or whether we must choose a boy name, haha!
Congratulations ! I would have zero willpower hahah! I will be TTC in [name_f]April[/name_f] for out third.
Best of luck
Thad and [name_u]Toby[/name_u] sounds cool together, I think!
With older brother [name_m]Ransom[/name_m], I’m sorry, you can’t use this IMP. You would be commuted to a theme & with a brother that has a name outside of that it just doesn’t work.
