Total GP (for me, at least) but I’ve fallen hard for Kestrel today! Nicknamed Kes, or maybe even [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f]…
What do you think? Wearable or not? What’s your crush of the day?

I really like Kestrel but I can only picture it on a boy. It’s a total GP for me.
My crush this week has been [name_u]Fife[/name_u]/[name_u]Fifer[/name_u].
I love it! So much that if I heard it before my son was born I’d probably have used it. It’s unique and I’ve never heard anyone with the name before!
Not a fan of the nn kizzy
And another one: Larkspur! Apparently I’m really enjoying super-spiky, edgy nature names today… Definite GPs for me!
Ooh I was also crushing on Larkspur recently! There’s a berry with a daughter named Larkspur and I just think that is so cool.
i crushed on Kestrel as a girls’ name a while back, primarily as a middle for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]. I still think [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] Kestrel is super cool and sleek.
Currently fixated on [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_f]Linnet[/name_f], and the Danish beauty Lærke.
Met a Kestrel once with a sibling named [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]. Best sibset ever.
I love both Larkspur and Kestrel! Both seem very feminine and strong to me. Kestrel feels more wearable, though. Actually, my recent crush is Larkspur, ironically, although this thread has made me consider Kestrel, too!
I really like Kestrel! It feels warm and free. I might consider it for a middle
I’ve been obsessed with [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] recently and today, [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is on my mind
I love Kestrel! For me, it’s definitely a viable first name. Larkspur is pretty too, but more of a middle name though. A GP of mine lately is Meadowlark, although I could use it as a middle if I found the right combo.
I really like Kestrel! I think it could work. Kestrel is the name of the main character in The Winner’s Trilogy by [name_f]Marie[/name_f] Rutkoski.
[name_u]Fife[/name_u], Laerke and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] are awesome crushes too!
I like both Kestrel and Larkspur a lot. I think I prefer them on a boy but I guess they could work on a girl as well. Not a fan of [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f], though, I prefer [name_f]Essie[/name_f].
My current crush is [name_f]Frida[/name_f].
Kestrel reminds me of other nature names like [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. I kind of like it, but definitely only as a GP. Maybe it could be a cool middle name. I like the nickname [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f]! Reminds me of a book I had when I was a kid where the main character was called [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f].
I met a Kestrel a few years ago and it stuck with me, so I think that says something. It is a very pretty, feminine sounding word to me and quite feminine, and the image is so wonderfully strong. Kes and [name_f]Kizzy[/name_f] are adorable! The Kestrel I met had a little sister named C@dence. They’re not my style specifically, but I thought it was a pretty awesome sibset.
I can’t really comment on Larkspur, as it was the name of a (very nice!) town relatively near where I used to live and that’s all I can think of!
Came here to also mention The Winner’s Trilogy, someone beat me to it. I’m not much of a fan of K names but Kestrel isn’t bad.
My current crush is [name_f]Bunny[/name_f].
Someone posted about Kestrel recently and I’m crushing on it lately too! I think she falls in to the ‘brave’ category - I could totally see it being used but I would’ve have the guts too unless I really really loved it! I like K names on girls, and little [name_f]Kessie[/name_f] would be so cute!
My biggest GP crush is [name_m]Taurus[/name_m] for a girl. I can’t remember why I used it, but I created a character and called her [name_m]Taurus[/name_m] [name_u]Brae[/name_u] because I wanted something quirky and alternative. Now I can’t help but really love it!
I am loving the edginess and outdoorsy-ness of Kestrel! Super cute nicknames, too. I also adore Larkspur! It makes me so happy that @lovelace has a daughter named Larkspur
One of my other favorites that kind of falls into this brave nature name category is [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] I have to keep her in the middle spot, or could it be wearable as a first name? Hmm
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] might be too much of a fn stretch, I do think Kestrel and Larkspur are totally usable!
@dream.create I know a little [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] (g)! Seriously. It’s lovely, and suits her… for now (she’s about 18m). I’m not convinced about it on an adult, but perhaps that’s just because it’s so novel as a given name. I bet little [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] will still suit her name at 50 - after all, [name_u]Wren[/name_u] has proved to age perfectly fine.
I’m loving [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] today. More mainstream, but the same lovely, earthy, naturey vibe!
