The names of these kids are often times the least of my worries for them…but yeah, some crazy names!
The parent that named their kid’s name Alycesaundra should wear the hat of shame. Sparkle? SPARKLE?! Are you kidding me?! [name]Maverick[/name]'s okay… for a [name]GUY[/name]! I actually have a [name]GUY[/name] friend named [name]Maverick[/name]. He’d be offended that his name was officially crushed by a three year old girl. [name]Giavanna[/name]. [name]How[/name] do you even pronounce that?
I really hate seeing names like these, because it just screams uneducated and ignorant, which is not fair on the kids.
Alycesaundra? Really? I adore [name]Alessandra[/name], and am so set on naming my first daughter this. It’s such a flawless name to me but to completely butcher it…ugh.
[name]Even[/name] [name]Alesandra[/name], Allesandra, [name]Allessandra[/name], Alysandra would’ve been miles better.
Sometime I seriously think these parents (usually moms) are just so self-centered, that they don’t care about the kid having to have the name, or anything. They just like the power they get to have in naming their child anything they want. Like ownership or something.
Sparkle is something you name your pet puppy, or your rhinestone studded iPhone…not a human.
Sorry if I seem harsh, rude or insensitive, but things like this are just irksome an insensitive to the child, imo.
This is totally unrelated to the thread, but the Makynli on Toddlers and Tiaras is from my hometown. (: [name]Just[/name] thought that was cool.
Also, there was a girl on there named [name]Queen[/name] on one episode.
Can’t stand watching that show! I’ve tried once or twice, but change the channel withing a few minutes. The names are awful, too!!!
And there was a little girl named [name]Claiborne[/name]!
Tsk tsk, makes me want to go have their birth certificates rearranged.
The only name I tend to have a hint of liking to is [name]Giavanna[/name], Pronounced like [name]Giovanni[/name], [name]Gia[/name]-vahn-uh.
I do believe that Alycesaundra is her twin sister…
That episode aired last week and the mother of those twins got upset because the speaker at the pageant mispronounced Alycesaundra’s name wrong. Heck I would too if I didn’t know any better.
Alycesaundra…? I…what? [name]How[/name] do you…even…why would you…? is speechless
Sparkle is terrible as well. Most of these names are terrible. Heck, ALL of these names are terrible. ETERNALLY CRINGING
There are no words…
Its kinda funny…the correlation between the moms who put their kids in those things and the names they give them…it just shows what kind of person they are…if anyone is offended by this I apologuze, I have way too strong opinions…[name]Kali[/name], [name]Destiny[/name], [name]Giavanna[/name], and [name]Lianna[/name] are real names, but like other people have said, Alycessaundra, Makynli, and Camarie (who btw was names after the fact that her moms favourite food while pregnant was CALAMARI lolol i laughed for 19minutes straight after I heard that one) make me want to burst out laughing right in their moms faces…[name]Maverick[/name] was a boy on the show I think though…so was [name]Darrick[/name]
[name]Lianna[/name] is ok. As Destiny, Trinity and some others.
I noticed a little girl named [name]Flower[/name] on that show one time. She wasn’t featured but I was like “[name]Flower[/name]? Like the skunk from [name]Bambi[/name]?” I’ve met southern grandmothers named [name]Misty[/name] before. Generations of trendy naming. I think this naming style is kind of a small town/pageant phenomenon and I’ve found that a lot of people who name like this are not uneducated or poor. These pageant women are very family oriented and spend all of their time, energy, and money on their children. The women I know often (but not always) live somewhat rurally and pageants become a social network where they can be relevant & competitive while still focusing on their kids. I do think this style of perpetually trendy naming is a little weird but I grew up in the big city. I found it REALLY strange to see rich spoiled young kids with names I’d associate with lower class living situations when I moved south some years ago. Down here it is par for the course to use a spelling that will be YOUR daughter’s alone. [name]Emily[/name] becomes [name]Emaleigh[/name], [name]Therese[/name] becomes Tareece, [name]Dallas[/name] becomes [name]Dalis[/name], and nobody bats an eye. I’ve softened my view on some of these names because they really don’t tell you much about the kind of person someone will be. I don’t think these pageant women are bad mothers at all, I just think they are just living in their own self-created fantasy land. They are often (but not always) financially free to spend the majority of their time on their children. If you’re planning on painting your daughter and draping her in jewels and parading her in front of judgemental like-minded people for your own amusement you probably don’t care what the outside world thinks about the name you choose. Oh, and they are CONVINCED that what they are doing really will help their daughters later in life. [name]Young[/name] women who have been trained as hardcore sucessful pageant kids can get good jobs training other pageant kids. They are paid VERY well. Some pageant mothers will work two jobs to keep their children in pageants because it was how they were raised. In this pageant world you are thought of as a bad mother if you can’t keep your child competitive. It is like an alternate universe & they all cheer eachother on. The cost is considered normal and necessary. It’s a party you have to pay to get into and if you can’t afford to be there they don’t care what you think. These names are a small, crazy glimpse into a truely complex American subculture.
I know pageant culture exists in cities, too, but because I wasn’t raised that way I didn’t gain any insight into that world until I moved south where this subculture is [name]WAY[/name] HUGE. I realize I paired small town and pageant culture together a lot but they are so ingrained in my mind. I’d love to hear from someone who has participated in pageants in a big city.
This is my favorite show! I agree, the names are TERRIBLE! [name]One[/name] of my favorite episodes is the one with twins [name]Giavanna[/name] and Alycesaundra.
I was just watching this show last night! There was a “showdown” between two pageant girls: [name]Eden[/name] and [name]McKenzie[/name]…but those were the most normal names of the bunch.
[name]Alessandra[/name] & [name]Giavanna[/name] are sisters I think. Here are some other ones I think that came from Toddler’s & Tiaras:
Dianelly
Anapete
[name]Berklie[/name]
Kasha
Kragen
And i like the spelling [name]Emaleigh[/name], and there was twins [name]Scarlet[/name] & [name]Isabella[/name], I think these two are fine, along with [name]Eden[/name]… and [name]Emerald[/name]… and Alaska isn’t that bad.
I would use
[name]Karlee[/name]/[name]Karley[/name] (spelled differently of course)
Aishlynn (see above)
Makynli (see above)
[name]Lynsie[/name] (is this Linsday? then maybe i would )
[name]Kali[/name] (as [name]Caley[/name] maybe)
[name]Brionna[/name] (Spelled [name]Breanna[/name] or [name]Brianna[/name])
[name]Kinley[/name] (guilty pleasure of mine)
The rest are pretty bad
With the exception of [name]Kali[/name], they’re all terrible. The only problem I see there is the association with the Hindu goddess.
