Tomboyish nickname for me (Ava)?

Hi, my name is Ava.
The problem is, I don’t think it suits me and I’m uncomfortable with it.
I associate it with feminine people, but I’m a tomboy. So I’m looking for a tomboyish yet legit nickname for myself. But I want it to be similar enough to my name, so that others recognize it as my real nickname.

I was thinking about these options, but some of them don’t even start with A, So I’m worried about facing name initial problems or having to convince people that it’s my name (nickname).

Anyways, Which name do you suggest?

[name_f]Ave[/name_f] could work. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are very feminine, and the rest feel like a stretch. What is your middle name? You could use that, a nickname of your middle or initials. I know a girl who goes by AK, and AJ is a fairly common nickname.

[name_f]Ave[/name_f], V and using your initials are all great ideas!
Another option is Vae. Also, if you prefer your middle name you could either use that or combine it with your first name somehow. For example: [name_f]Ava[/name_f] Gatlin: [name_f]Agate[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]: Avlin, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]: [name_f]Aggie[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]: [name_f]Abelle[/name_f]. This might not work for your specific name though.

Seconding @blaise11’s suggestion of [name_u]Avi[/name_u]! Otherwise I would go with [name_f]Ave[/name_f].

I’m writing a novel right now and the main character’s name is (forgive me, it’s fantasy) Avoranni, nn Avora, [name_f]Avy[/name_f].

I feel like [name_f]Avy[/name_f] suits you really well! [name_m]Even[/name_m] so, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] to me is very tomboyish, but very well!

Aven was the first name that came to mind. I really like it.

I have a friend named [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and we call her Aver sometimes :slight_smile:

I think [name_m]Ace[/name_m] could work! I think it’s a generic enough nickname that it doesn’t have to be extremely close to your given name, and anyway it still shares the first syllable with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. It’s pretty sporty sounding too which would fit a tomboy imo.
