Too close for siblings?

I’ve been thinking lately about what really is too close for sibling names. I know a lot of people feel that matching initials are too close, but for my purposes I’m thinking mostly about the sound.

I’m finding a lot of names that I love have similar letters, but different vowel sounds. To me, they sound not much alike, but it’s hard to deny their closeness. But this one pairing in particular has me unsure!

What do you all think – are [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] too close for sister names?

Yes. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would be better.

No, I don’t think they’re too similar.

My name differs from my brother’s by only a single vowel sound. Our names are both familiar classics and we were only one year apart in school. It was never an issue or a problem. It think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] are fine. They go together nicely to my ear.

My daughters names are pretty different but I still call them by the others name constantly. I do think that it is good for them to have distinct names though.

I think they’re too much alike, I could see [name_f]Ada[/name_f] being a nickname for [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
What about [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Veda[/name_f]/[name_f]Ida[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]?
