DH and I are expecting our second daughter and we love the name [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. But is [name_f]Elena[/name_f] too close to [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] with the [name_f]El[/name_f]-/[name_m]Al[/name_m]- beginnings and all?
I think it is better close phonetically and could cause confusion. The common [name_m]Al[/name_m]-/[name_f]El[/name_f]- combined with the -a ending make them easily confused. Some other names with similar feel that have a little more differentiation could be:
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
You may also want to try looking into names that share meaning with [name_f]Elena[/name_f] instead of just sound.
I think its fine.
Its too close, not just because of the [name_f]El[/name_f] sound but also the same a ending.
It’s too close in my opinion, but I’m really picky about siblings names that have similar sounds.
I think it’s fine.
They’re both three syllables, in many accents both begin with a schwa, and both end in an -ah sound. That’s much too close for me.
