Too close to Evelyn?

Ettalin nn [name]Etta[/name] is my new favorite name but my sister in law dreams of a baby girl [name]Evelyn[/name] nn [name]Evy[/name]. WouldvI be a name stealer? Also I love [name]Etta[/name] but but feel its too short any suggestions names that have the nn [name]Etta[/name]??

I do think [name]Evelyn[/name] and Ettalin are too close, sorry, and more than that, Ettalin seems quite made-up to me, sorry. What about:

[name]Violetta[/name] (or just [name]Violet[/name])
[name]Julietta[/name] (or just [name]Juliet[/name])
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Isabetta[/name]
[name]Nicolette[/name]
[name]Alouette[/name]
[name]Lisette[/name]
Adalet
[name]Ayelet[/name]
etc.

I think anything with “et” in it somewhere could work, really.

Good luck!

[name]Evelyn[/name] and Ettalin are close but no you wouldn’t be a name stealer. I would avoid names ending in the same sound. But if your calling her [name]Etta[/name] most of the time it might not be a problem. [name]Evy[/name] and [name]Etta[/name] actually sound cute together.
I think [name]Etta[/name] is perfectly fine on its own but other longer names for it are:
[name]Elizabetta[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Loretta[/name]
[name]Cosette[/name]
[name]Colette[/name]

Again anythin with “et” or “etta” in it. I know a baby whose name is just [name]Etta[/name] and it fits her fine. [name]Etta[/name] is a really sweet name:)

[name]Elisabetta[/name] is a very pretty way to get [name]Etta[/name].
other ideas-
[name]Harriett[/name]
[name]Marietta[/name]
[name]Coretta[/name]
[name]Etana[/name]
[name]Ethel[/name]
Bettina
Lucetta

Ettalin and [name]Evelyn[/name] would be close, but I don’t think [name]Etta[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] are, so I think it can work. You mentioned “dreams of a baby girl” so I’m assuming she doesn’t have one? If that’s the case, you have every right to use it if you have a baby before her. There is no “naming claiming rights” and it wouldn’t be copying since they are two different names.

I think if you love it enough, use it.

Could you do a double barrel name instead?

[name]Etta[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Etta[/name] [name]Kate[/name]

I new a girl named [name]Maryetta[/name] once.

@ninanoo I have a great aunt named [name]Etta[/name] [name]Mae[/name] lol

The name Etelvina fits the bill imo

I think they are quite similar, although that doesn’t necessarily mean you would be a name stealer! I think you would need to talk to your sister-in-law to see how she felt about it. Here are a few -etta/-ette names I think could work:

[name]Elizabetta[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Nicolette[/name]
[name]Marietta[/name]
[name]Harriett[/name]

[name]Minette[/name] or [name]Minnette[/name] – nicknames could be [name]Mina[/name], [name]Minna[/name], or [name]Etta[/name]

I think Ettalin is pretty close to [name]Evelyn[/name], if she already has an [name]Evelyn[/name]. If not, all bets are off!

That said, I do think Ettalin sounds made-up. It also reminds me of Ritalin. I’d go for one of the other lovely ‘-etta’ names that people have suggested - or, in fact, just [name]Etta[/name]. I don’t think it needs a longer name at all.

too similar imo, [name]Georgette[/name] or [name]Georgetta[/name]?

Haha oh my goodness Ritalin. I don’t like the sounds of that. I do love [name]Maryetta[/name]! My husband has suggested [name]Mary[/name] after his grandma but I’ve found it too boring. I may consider [name]Maryetta[/name] nn [name]Etta[/name].
