Okay, so I really love the name [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. However, my sister-in-law has “called” the name [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] for when they have children. They would have the same surname, are [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] too close? I feel like they are, but I’m hoping that they aren’t. Lol. Also, my cousin has a daughter (and yes our family is a close one) named [name_f]Ana[/name_f], short for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. Is it too close to that as well?
I don’t think it’s a big deal. Sounds good!
it might be too close to [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]/[name_f]Ana[/name_f], unless you shorten [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] to [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], etc. As far as ‘claiming’ [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - if she hasn’t had a child yet,and is not pregnant, she can’t really do that, so I would disregard the [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] issue, considering you’ll be having one first. It’s not overly close in sound either way though.
Thanks for the replies!
@lawsonhaley - we would definitely shorten it to [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or just use [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], so that would help with the [name_f]Ana[/name_f]/[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] issue. And thanks for the thoughts on the whole claiming a name thing.
I think it’s totally fine. They’re not the same name and cousins can definitely have similar names. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister is [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] and we have a cousin [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (though we don’t see him much), there have never been any issues. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is lovely by the way!
I don’t think they are too close for family. It would be too much for sisters.
I think they would be too similar for siblings but not for cousins. Especially if you’re going to shorten it to [name_f]Bella[/name_f]/[name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_f]Nancy[/name_f] etc. After all [name_u]Abby[/name_u], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] & [name_f]Bella[/name_f] are distinctly different even if [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] & [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] are somewhat similar
No, I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about to be honest. [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is a hypothetical child and it’s not like they share many similar sounds, just the same initial letter but that’s no big deal.
I find [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is much closer to [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Ana[/name_f]’ but if you plan on using [name_f]Belle[/name_f] then there really isn’t any problem!
No, [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] {and} [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] are not too close :).
Thank you berries!
I don’t think they are too close, as far as I’m concerned the only common thing is the ‘A’ starting sound.
I love [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]. I don’t think any of them are too close to another to go well together!
