So I have a dilemma. I love the name [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] however my mother’s ex husbands name is [name_m]Elwyn[/name_m] (Not my dad never met him). Is that too close or is it okay?
I don’t think they’re too close. I would say too close for siblings as there is a similar sound, but I think in this case I doubt anyone would see a connection.
Honestly, I’d ask your mom. If she’s ok with it then it should be fine.
Yeah, I definitely agree you should talk to your mom about it if you’re concerned it might dredge up bad memories or feelings for her. You know her better than we do.
That said, I don’t think the names are all that similar, especially since one is feminine and the other masculine, so we’re talking about two different naming contexts here.
No, I think it’s perfectly fine… I mean my OH’s ex is [name_f]Daniela[/name_f] and we are concidering Kimimela for our second child… so it’s fine:D

I don’t think it would be an issue. They are very different names, but perhaps ask your mum for her feeling on the matter.
