Is [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] Becoming too popular?? Considering [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] on the fence about [name_u]Navy[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]…I really like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] but my husband is not a fan… any other ideas would be helpful…thx!!
It’s been rising in popularity since 1998. There were 4,270 girls named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] in 2015. Considering how large the US is–if you’re from there–that’s not a lot.
I don’t think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is that popular. If you’re not sure though, what about [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Eva[/name_f]?
I love the name, and not to deter you but I have been surprised to discover how many there are in my son’s school He’s kindergarten age, so I’m talking about lower elementary grades or siblings of his classmates. I think I’ve met or heard on the playground 6-7 girls named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. The school is in a pretty hipster-y neighborhood though, I think it’s less popular in other areas.
I like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] too. A few other ideas: [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Maeva[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_f]Nola[/name_f], [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]…
I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]! I’ve personally only ever met 1 on the playground. On the TLC show Outdaughtered they also have a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
I’ve only ever met one [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] who was a quirky thirty year old English teacher I worked with. It suited her very well.
That being said, I only know a few school aged children but I’ve never come across a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I know a lot of people express an interest in the name but not sure if people are following through with it.
I’m going to be honest and say that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] does seem a very simple and potentially common combination just because of the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] element. That being said, simple and common isn’t always a bad thing.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is another common name (I know of a few [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]'s under 6) so if you’re deterred by common names I’d stay away from it.
[name_u]Navy[/name_u] is a little [name_m]OTT[/name_m] for my liking. I can see the potential cuteness factor of it, and it is certainly unique, but it could be a cause for teasing (e.g Old [name_u]Navy[/name_u] jokes, [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] jokes, YMCA jokes) so I would use it with caution.
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] is a great name though. Not as common and as sickly sweet as [name_f]Evie[/name_f], but cuter than [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
[name_m]Ive[/name_m] seen [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] a little too much, but I dont think its too popular for you to use, as long as you dont mind meeting other Hazels
Personally I prefer [name_u]Navy[/name_u], its cute and unusual and makes a common name like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] interesting
[name_m]Hi[/name_m].
I think that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is very sweet! It has a snazzy sound to it, and, of course, it’s a bonus that it is lovely and quaint. I am from the UK, and the name is not at all popular over here, but I am not sure where you are! Personally, I would not say that the name is too popular to use. It’s names like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] that have severe popularity!! I am put off from using popular names, especially as being one of five Bethanys in my class was a nightmare!
I don’t think it is too popular at all. And it’s rather sweet.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is beautiful! Classic, interesting, pretty, and zippy, all at once. I am a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] in my 20s and I have a cousin in her 40s named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I know no other Hazels or [name_f]Janes[/name_f], so I think go for it! She’ll love her name
